2nd NY NJ CT Datsun Roadster Meet - Update

The 2nd NY NJ CT Datsun Roadster Meet on Saturday, May 17 is less than two weeks away and all the plans are coming together.

I plan on reserving a large section of the parking lot for our Roadsters. When you enter Castleton Street the parking lot is on the right side of the street. I should have a large
" Datsun " sign marking the spot.

I will have event packages for all participants which will include , a " Window Card " to list all the particulars of your car ( similar to last year), a nice 3" round sticker to mark the event and what ever else I can come up with.

The beer festival runs from 12 to 6 pm and the cost is $ 20.00, and this gets you beer and music. Food is separate, there will be beer dogs, burgers, ( 2 ) 300lb roasted pigs and sides . Prices range from $ 1.00 to $ 3.25.
Designated drivers (no beer ) are free.

Think warm weather and sun.

Dave,

I have heard from 8 of last years participants who indicated they would make the trip. Also understand a few more cars from DRONE plan on attending. Have not heard from the Maryland group. Hope more of the CT and NJ folks make the drive.

Vince, as of the other day, most of the Maryland and New Jersey crowd is not going to make it. Unavoidable commitments, broken bones and graduation parties taking their toll. Looks like it's just me from south of the Tappan Zee. Maybe I'll fix the head gasket on the 68 and bring 2 roadsters :D

OK, I stand corrected...South west. 10 day forecast says drizzle...Which is good, because the 10 day is almost always wrong. No matter, as long as the river isn't up to the bridge, I'm going.

What fun, thanks Vince for hosting another great gathering. The two primer red rat-sters left together (last ones out except for Vince) and John's 1500 made it at least to the Seymour line running on 1 and a half carbs. Paul and I started getting woozy from the fumes...

It just struck me that this was the longest trip I've taken with the 69 and it didn't miss a beat. A nice outcome for a car that sat for 22 years collecting dust. 25 mpg, I am going to start using it on my work commute!

Cheers all -

Thanks Vince!
What a great day. Nice cars, great people. The Rat-sters added a nice visual contrast to some very well finished roadsters. John's 1500 and Tim's 2000 are both diamonds in the rough. John getting the award for not really knowing if he was going to get there...or back. Jim Gammon and family came up from Wall NJ, no roadster, but he did bring his carburetors.

This is an event well worth expanding for next year. Location is good, beer is great, could be a nice north east show.

BTW, Murphy (not Tim) struck on the way home...With windows and top up you hear new things, and I don't think the rear axle is supposed to sound like that... Remind me not to tempt fate and talk about breakdowns next time.

Just got home.

I was another great Datsun get together. Seven cars this year and a hand full of owners without their cars. Thanks to the DRONE crew for driving down from Mass. The CT crew for their diamonds in the rough. Dave from NJ and Gary from the Island.

All around a great day , weather , beer , food , music and Roadsters

Vince.

Pictures to follow.
