New 1965 SPL310 owner - or it now owns me?

Post by roadsterfan »

Well, it great to see another Atlanta Roadster owner. There aren't too many of us around anymore but I have 3 Roadsters all 1970 1600s. Like Sid said join SEROC it is free, the only time we meet is at Road Atlanta during the Mitty or if Brad comes up with one of his interesting rides around Alabama.
Brad sends out emails all year long on Roadsters for sale, or parts wanted or for sale. It is very low key but can be a great source for info and fun.

Christmas Present

Post by autoquick »

Just had a great Christmas Present!

A lawyer acquaintance stopped by accompanied a friend of mine. The lawyer was gawking over the Fairlady. And he’s a high-end Porsche owner. My friend had to drag the lawyer out of the Fairlady!

Yea - I have to get this car fixed up for the spring.

Is there a active link for the SEROC? Because the SEROC --South East Roadster Owners Club
http://www.datsunroadsters.com/seroc/ is no longer active.

Here is your answer:

Dear SEROCers

Some of you may have noticed (I hope) that our web site has disappeared . The server it was on was hosted graciously for many years by SEROC member Mark Dent in Maryland. Mark sold his business and had to close down the server so the SEROC web site is out of commission for awhile.

Tom Phelan and I are working on a new host server to get the site back up and will provide some promising new features in the future. Are there any features that you'd like to see added to the new site?

In the meantime, any communication you wish to make to the club, or if you need any of the info that was on the club site write to me at this email address.

Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. I will let you know when the new site is up. Due to the upcoming holidays, many of us will be traveling and it may take me a fews days to respond to requests. If your requests concern Santa Clause stuff, ask now or forever hold your present.

In other SEROC news; California roadster owner Peter Harrison stopped at several SEROC locations along his 8500 mile trek accross the US of A in his roadster. I know of at least three stops. One in Columbus, Ohio and visited with Paul Kort and some OROC members. He also visited Craig Halsted in VA and Peter stayed with us while passing through Montgomery, AL. Another local SEROC member Lewis Kelly joined us for an afternoon of good eats and great roadster stories. Just a few days ago I received an email form Peter saying he had arrived home safely.

About the same time I received an email from GA, SEROC member Richard Brown. Richard said he would have liked to have joined us but he was returning from his own iron bottom trip from Utah in his roadster.

Along the way an elk tried to hitch a ride with Richard. Richard is blessed to still be with us. I'll sent you all the web site with picks. I don't have it here at the office right now. (Hey Richard, when you get this, forward the site to this address and I'll sent it out to the club).

Th-th-th-that's all for now. Have a BLESSED Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

Enjoy the Ride!

Brad

Smoky the car

Post by autoquick »

It's been an interesting 2 weeks. Working on the car and hiding from the wife for the holidays. (They always find things to do).
Finally have the ignition stable. Now it starts on the first try! FL oxidation got the better of me. Now it's smoky the car. I would like to think it's from sitting. Changed the oil, and it smells like the exhaust. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :?
Did a brake check (As somebody suggested) and is three out of four OK? Didn't think so. Three of the brakes look like they had been worked on, plenty of pad and rather clean. Number four had been very naughty. If it wasn't for sitting, I would have heard the metal scraping. Lucky there isn't a single score on the drum. The front shoes look like bad. The rubber on cylinders are pushed back. Not a pretty sight. The New Year starts off with a search for new shoes for the baby.

By the way - Happy New Year - and thanks for the comments. Even the positive and negative grounding. So far I'm just keeping it running until after February. Then I expect to see if I will need to pull the engine and other major work.
