Just think, in about 10-20 years, we'll probably have to pay as much for the narrow whitewalls as for the wide whites ($150ish each)

Check the Hankook website for dimension info.

Just mounted & balanced the Hankook tires on the repainted stock steel wheels, here's a photo with the 5.60-14 bia ply spare.

UPDATE 4/28 - While the rest of you were in @ Solvang, I finished the rear brakes (2 RWC's and steel brake line replacement) on my 70 SPL.

Here's a shot comparing some current tires/wheels...(L to R) 195/60R14 Azenis 215 on 14x6 Etoile mesh alloys, Hankook 175/70R14 w/w on stock steel wheels refinished with Rust Bullet, 5.60 x 14 Toyo bias ply w/w spare. Not pictured, 1976 14 x 6.5 Minilites & 280ZX "Iron Cross" wheels.

The Rust Bullet coating is a metallic grey color, although a little tricky to apply (I used a spray gun) it covers well and appears to be very durable. The coating drys/hardens by catalytic reaction, generating carbon dioxide. Watch your application thickness to avoid pinholes in the finish, I ended up with some pinholes... but from 1-2 feet away they look great! :D

Well, I finally got around to taking my wheels off so I could get some new whitewall tires put on. Went to Tire Kingdom and asked for the whitewalls. Must have mentioned whitewalls at least 3 times. The guy even wrote "whitewall" on the slip (can you see where this is going?) Came back about 30 minutes later and saw my wheels with brand new... yep, blackwalls. Thought maybe they just messed up and had the whitewalls on the inside. Nope, not even whitewall tires. So, I went inside and the guy I talked to didn't know how it happened. After some more searching around for cheap whitewalls in the back (cheapest was about $51/each) they ended up breaking my wheels back down. Kind of happy this all happened because now I can clean up and paint the wheels. Looks like the car's going to be on jack stands for a little while longer.
