I forgot to mention that I cleaned the jackshaft bearings well before coating the replacement jackshaft with assembly lube and inserting into the block.

Your repair will probably work fine if the bearing and shaft were not damaged.

If too tight (doesn't sound like it), it will seize, if too loose it will wear out prematurely.

To remove the confusing mis-information on this thread, most vendors can provide "Dura-bond" bearings. That is simply one brand.

However, There is no meaningful advantage to a "seamless" cam bearing. So clearing up that BS and idiocracy.

EVERY bearing in the roadster engine (and nearly every automotive engine manufactured since the 1920's) has a seam- actually 2.

EVERY cam bearing used by Nissan has a seam. Bearing manufacturers figured out how to make cam bearings reliable decades ago.

We typically install and sell Japanese OEM bearings in addition to Dura-bond brand. The Japanese bearings work perfectly.

I agree with JT, Nissan has sold 100’s of thousands of the seamed bearings and if it were truly a problem they would have rectified years ago. The problem is not with the bearings, it’s with who and how they are installed.
