Mike U, thanks for the history, just a remarkable set of seasons and campaigns. That many 1st's is just staggering. Would have sacrificed body parts to be a witness in person. Must have struck fear in many legendary camps just to have their trailer roll in. Much appreciated.

You’re welcome. It is neat to see how Bob got whatever was the newest model as soon as they were available. Bob told me he always raced what was newest on Datsun/Nissan’s request. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday…He was racing the 2000 in the last part of ‘67 when it first came out. It was more competitive later in DP as CP was a class with faster cars (i.e. Lotus Elan). Once the Buick/Datsun dealership he drove for went bankrupt he got the ‘64 1500 (he had to go find the car as it was hidden by the dealer ) and when he made the deal with Datsun/Nissan he opened his dealership and got 1965 1500s, shortly after that the 1600. He told me he drove the newer cars and he would put other drivers in the earlier ones. He had Gilmartin driving the 1965 1500 after he moved on to the newer cars.

I found a few more shots that I have in my Bob Sharp collection-- again, unfortunately I cannot credit their owners-- but they are too good not to share:

Bob Sharp is also interviewed in this video produced by Nissan of the 1969 National Runoffs at Daytona-- lots of good roadster racing footage in here if you have not seen it. This video was given to me by my dear friend and former boss, Jack Scoville who raced roadsters against Bob Sharp (and who had nothing but good things to say about Bob Sharp and his team)-- it is well worth a watch:

More great photos, thank you. The shot of the 1600 with the Ridgefield Conn. sign was a very early one with that car.
