Another option...
I'm kind of late to the party, and don't see in this thread what year you have.
As I'm sure you know, the 66 dash is a grey color, and the examples posted are amazing and I would be thrilled with any of those.
I know that the 67.5 is black. I believe the 67 is also black, but others can confirm.
I can only comment on my 67.5 refurb. I had mine powder coated in a wrinkle black... take a look at this post:

It turned out really, really nice. Very, very similar to the original finish.
I totally admire the effort to do it yourself, and I do all I can, but when they told me the cost to finish the shifter plate, dash, and console was $70, I went for it.
I feel like that was well worth it. Very consistent texture and color - and should last my lifetime.
Just a thought if that fits your budget.
