Testing is going along very well with this boot. I flew out to Minneapolis at the beginning of this project and had a sit down with two engineers there. I am now willing to share some of my findings. I know that our boot will eventually be sent overseas to be copied so I will be selective in what I disclose.
The Nissan original natural rubber boot when it was quadrisect, has wall thicknesses that are all over the place in the bellows / diaphragm area. The areas that are tearing are thinner then other areas. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for the differences in this part. Right and left are different to each other as well as top and bottom.
The boot tooling that is being made for us has thicker wall areas that are consistent. Parting lines, tear areas have been moved to more logical locations and a strengthening bead has been added in the deepest part of the valleys where the highest stress point exists in this part. SEE PHOTO.
We also opted away from the regular choice of rubber for shift boots by selecting a gas and oil proof compound that is more durable and expensive.
Our boot is the same durometer as the factory boot, but because of the strengthening, the boot is more firm, not too firm where it will not shift like some 67 1/2 boots that are made overseas that are inflexible. FYI our boots made for the 67 1/2 by Metro are flexible like the original.
That is the update. Delivery looks like it will be sometime in July 2024

I'm very happy with how it fits.

Tested one of these all summer long and was very pleased. I believe the new material and slightly thicker design will make these last much longer than the original.

This new boot is just wonderful. It puts a smile on my face every time I look at it.

Mine has continued to work well too.
