I have neither the time nor the skill to manufacture dash pads. The one that you are offering there is for a 1500. It is not the same as the 1600 and low windshield 2000. In fact it only works for the three seat 1500s

Didn't Ray Lim or someone else have some recovered in Australia that were the same quality as Just Dashes using the same methods for a lot less? I think this was during covid and the shipping back to the U.S. got caught up in the covid shipping mess. But, maybe that's all sorted out now?

Buy the mold from dean.
Stan has a mold as well. Don't think it is for sale, but he isn't using it much that I know of. He mentioned another batch of Dashes was in the works but that was over a year ago. I would be surprised if JT didn't buy a few when Dean said last call early last year. But he could be holding them for full in-house restorations. Ross has (had) some that are in a decent used shape, good starting point for a DIY restore.

Kind of like an "I really don't want to do these anymore price, but if you insist!"

Assuming you are directing this at me, thank you. I obviously did not know that.

Anyone need a "three seater 1500 dash pad"?

I did get all of them back but with the surprised price hike in shipping due to Covid. I sold all but one as it will be used for my upcoming project. I'll try to get another batch done before Solvang 2023. Hope to see you all there!

I contacted Just Dashes about my '66 1600 and got back the following response:

Dear Ed,

Thank you for contacting Just Dashes! Unfortunately, we do not have an appropriate application for a 1966 Datsun 1600 low windshield. Please contact us again if you would like help with another vehicle.

Sorry we couldn't have been of more help.

Thanks,

That's weird. Not sure what not having an appropriate application means in this case.

Anyway, I just sent out my dash to them this morning. They have been decent to work with so far, just a bit slow on email responses. I was able to negotiate a little. I offered them my old spare dash and console (in really bad condition) as a core, in exchange for the return shipping cost of my restored dash and console when they are done, which they accepted. Considering I just spent $175 to ship my stuff to them, I feel like that was a good deal and cleared some much needed space in my parts shed.

Ray,

I’m curious as to what you sold the Aussie dashes for. Thinking about the future…

Since it was sent down just at the start of the pandemic and the dashes were stuck for awhile downunder , I had to pay a logistic company to send them back home as cost for shipments nearly tripled with FedEx, UPS, DHL and that added to the cost so i had to charge $1700 per dash with glove box door (minus the knee board). The next shipment will likely be sent down once the shipping cost subsides. Although their prices may have gone up since as prices of materials increased over the last couple of years.

Don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but these guys do reskinning. I believe you have to supply the original dash though.

Looks like they posted more pics of their completed works here:

Just picked up '70 center console from JD.

Cost was @995.00

I asked about '23 prices

'70 center console $1600 (4-5 months)

'68-70 dash $2400 (4-5 months)

Per Jairo

Yep. $4000 for the pair. It's crazy. And maybe I'm crazy for paying the $3000 2022 price. I did hear back from them about turnaround time. Based upon early January when I paid the invoice, they estimated it'll be done in July. Hopefully your 4-5 month estimate is more accurate.
