OK. I would like to ask what (if any) difference is there between the comp pan and the sr20 pan as far as ground clearance? I seem to remember build threads where the sr pans are well below the front cross member and Spriso even puts a "deflector" on the cross member for safety? I have a Vg30 powered 510 and the 7 qt. custom steel oil pan is made with a "hammer head" to bring the bottom of it even with the cross member. Surprised no one has done this on the U20 engine just for peace of mind. I know the "cool factor" of the original pan is there but personally I would like more ground clearance! Just my 2 cents and end of rant. Carry on...............

Ya, one has to be aware that you've got a pan sitting down there, especially with comp springs. But like Will, I've had my car 34 years, driven 100s of thousands of miles (I really have no idea as I don't keep track but at least 200K), driven on several dirt roads, launched the car on some unexpected dips in the road (more like sink holes, back side of Mt St Helens, pretty sure we were airborne), driven across several states at warp speed and never hurt the pan (knock on wood!). I've probably scraped it up more pulling the motor. But anything can happen at any time, and life is a fraction of an inch, eh? Since I don't have a reasonable way (IMHO) of improving its protection (other than using a stock pan) I'll just keep on keepin on
