Very similar to gold leaf, it's one of my favorite/satisfying things to to apply. Will take pics of that part.

With 1/24 scale I always lightly wet-sand it with 1500 grit then 6000 grit, then dry. Then polish.

I was just kidding, but it's pretty cool that you have taken that much time, and that it can make a difference!
