So, the grand tradition of British open air motoring during inclement weather is being kept alive by a (ahem) Japanese roadster? Carry on!
(Here the few narrow gauge lines that remain are relegated to excursion runs like the Apedale, but were once the lifeline of considerable commercial transport.)

Well, after balancing the carbs and the weather being perfect for open top motoring it was decided that a proper Roadster road test was in order with the new K&N's fitted. A nice drive of around 100 miles of well mixed motoring resulted in no problems with just the occasional spit to remind us we have carbs on I consider a success so the BMW venturi's appear to be a good stop gap measure.
