You could try a hobby shop for some brass or copper shim. It doesn't have to be too robust.

I'd consider soldering a wider head onto the current copper arm. Then you could increase the dissipate the pressure and it seems easier than replacing the back-plate. Make a pad out of a tack head or other small metal object that has rounded edges to slide easily. Just my 2 cents.

For me probably glueing on a copper sheet is easier than soldering. But your logic does make sense. I think it is odd no one else had this problem.

I got a piece of copper sheet, quite thin and flexible,.005, from Industrial Metal Supply, to glue on to the back of the hub. Should be easy to cut with snips, and then glue and solder the horn wire.
My question is what kind of glue should I use?

A contact adhesive should be fine. A thin smear on one surface, touch them together then separate until the adhesive isn't tacky. Then assemble and beware, once it grabs it is game over so be accurate!

Kind of ugly but this is the finished product. It should be durable enough for the time being. Hope it works, need my horn...
I used Gorilla Glue and resoldered the wire. Someone else with the same boss kit can repair theirs if needed. Linda

If you got a good solder joint, it should work fine. If you want to dress it up a little, a fine file will make the edge more round.

Doesn't matter where you can't see it. Works is good. I have a couple things I'm hiding on my car.

Did you use hole saws? I would have clamped it between two pieces of wood and drilled the outside diameter and then the inside. Of course that is predicated on either having the saws or be willing to buy them.

No didn't use a hole saw, but good tip for others with more tools and skills.

I want to be sure the copper arm is smooth and some dielectic grease or a thin bit of CAIG may help .
