I believe I must have Float Chamber overflow.
Here is my picture, but tube from front float chamber has a stream of gas going into air intake inside of air filter chamber)
download/file.php?mode=view&id=57863

Where do I start? Open up float and inspect / Clean? Just acquired a 1970 Datsun 1600 and just been out for a few drives. Yesterday was smoking a lot in exhaust as if was running to rich. (I can imagine why with gas pouring into intake. :( ) I see why this is much better than gas spill leading to fire. just starting to explore forum and thanks for all the contributions I have seen so far.

Also just added MMO into dashpot (back one looked low), and seems be running much better until gas pours into intake (takes 10-15 secs) Also cleaning air filter as it seems soaked in gas.

Do you not have float bowl over flow tubes / hoses feeding to the bottom of the car? That is where gas should be directed if float valves are stuck open / floats are filled with gas and don't rise in the chamber to shut off valves.

That is the 70 design. Open the float chamber - you likely have either a sunk float (has fuel in it), a bad float valve, or trash in the float valve.
