Thanks. Any idea if the pattern(s) for a later, 1969 Roadster, is any different?spl310 wrote: Wed Aug 15, 2018 9:19 pm Chester and Herods sells wool carpet and has the pattern for the 1500 Roadster

Would there be an advantage to wool over synthetic? Seems in an environment that is prone to weather exposure wool might smell when wet.onsight512 wrote: Wed Aug 15, 2018 10:53 am Does anyone make a wool carpet kit, or is that something an upholstery shop would do?

Ah, but don't forget that wool keeps you warm when it is wet too.68DSU wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 3:49 pmWould there be an advantage to wool over synthetic? Yes, the later pattern is different, but they may have that too. That being said, the correct material for a 69 is nylon.onsight512 wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 2:39 pmThanks. Re: carpet vendor options
Going from memory, I believe that it was cut pile nylon with a serge binding on the edge and a vinyl heel pad on the driver's mat.

Bringing this thread back...
I know the Roadsters never came with wool carpet, but can anyone speak to the pros & cons of nylon vs wool carpet?
many thanks,
Chris

Re: carpet vendor options
I Googled them just now and called the number that was shown (760-738-1931). When he answered the phone, the name was something else, but I spoke to a guy named Jim and he's sending me carpet swatches. He can provide nylon, wool, or something he said is similar to what's in late-model BMWs that is in between nylon & wool, cost-wise.

Jim did a carpet set for me last Fall. I sent him half a NOS set I bought from Rallye. He matched it to a tee, including the vinyl strips where the bends are. Looks very nice.

Re: carpet vendor options
As I said, I had him match what I had, which was a wool blend. I know others have said the later cars had nylon, but based on what Dann at Rallye has to say on the matter, as well as what I found when I initially restored the car, I respectfully disagree.onsight512 wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2020 9:17 pmDid you get wool, or nylon?bakerjf wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:16 pm Jim did a carpet set for me last Fall. Re: carpet vendor options
Ive been thinking about adding carpet back into my car and though the Tan isnt the correct color I think Im leaning that way since my other interior panels are all tan. Is there anything else thats needed besides a carpet kit itself? Anything belong underneath it or needed to hold it in place?

Re: carpet vendor options
The car is set up to have the carpet attached with snap fasteners. I reinstalled all of mine so the carpet kit would look completely OEM. I know jute pads are all the rage, but I already have dynamat so I didn’t use them this time around.2mAn wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2020 3:04 pm Ive been thinking about adding carpet back into my car and though the Tan isnt the correct color I think Im leaning that way since my other interior panels are all tan. These are the correct fasteners if you want to go the original route.
