I paid $1000 I had seen it on the company board a couple times, but didn't need another project. Finally after dreaming about it for a while and spending time on this board I decided I had to have it. The fact it didn't sell all those months just showed it was meant to be.

Did you used to live in Moscow Pat? I graduated high school with a Mahoney in 2000 and he sure looks like you.

Lived in Moscow until 2008. Probably remember my son Luke, class of 2000 grad also. BTW I "was" 14yrs old when your roadster was built.

Definitely know Luke, and after doing the math I figured you might be his dad. We actually spent a fair amount of time together in high school. I remember he was the first person I had ever seen put component speakers, a subwoofer, and a high-watt amp in a 2-seat pickup (or did it have a jump seat? I don't recall). Tell him Shawn Jordan says hi.

For the few of you that were interested... I'm an idiot. I got lots of great ideas of what the "wom wom wom" noise was coming from my long parked roadster wheel(s).

So.. the thin metal shield(?) on the back wheel was a bit bent.. could have been from tying it down to the trailer, or been like that the last 15 years. It was rubbing the slightly-out-of-round drum and making a terrible, but not that important noise. duh.

I fixed that and then put my first 4 miles on the roadster today. My sister was in town with her kids, visiting my parents in town. When I arrived, my 9-year-old nephew jumped right in the driver's seat and pretended he was driving (I sat passenger and saw the sights) They all had questions about how much I paid, why the paint looks like crap, how fast it goes, etc. When the question of how many miles/how long it had been sitting came up... jaws dropped. (40k miles and sitting 15 years) This car hasn't moved since 2 years before my sister had kids, 2 years after I graduated high school, 1 year after 9/11, and has just a few miles since y2k.

I've spent a lot of time on this site before being an "active" member and the information I have found has been invaluable, especially the part interchange.

Thanks! I'm loving the color on "Bosie" I've been looking around for colors if I get around to ever painting mine. The general consensus with friends and relatives is "roadsters are red" lol (mine is largely red-ozidized-to-pink). There's a few worn spots that tell me the original color was in the white-cream-yellow range. I like silver, wife hates it. Paint is probably number 127 on the list of things to do, so we will see.

As far as "project", I've been amazed with the resilience of these little cars. I have no idea what I'm doing and don't have much free time. I had the engine running in a week, and on the road (very unsafely) in a month.. what a confidence booster!

It's funny, I like silver too and my wife also hates it. She likes the green. The paint is decent, so it'll do for now. I think it might be stuck with a green, but will definitely change it when the time comes.

At this point I think I'm in deep enough and the family are too in love with it for that. I like the color fibe, my daughter has a bug the exact same color. It's a great car, but I wouldn't have been sad if it had been a different color.

Looks like you're making great progress! When I looked at the car, I mentioned to the owner the uncertainties of the condition of the hydraulics, engine internals, gas tank sludge, etc. and the potential cost of fixes. Not many of those issues for you. At your purchase price, very well bought indeed!!

If you are interested, I have a roll bar that won't be using that you could get at reasonable cost.

Luke now lives in Tokyo with wife and 2-1/2 yr old daughter. He says hi.

Today I replaced the brake master cylinder, a step in the right direction. A trip around the block showed I had GREAT brake pressure. It also showed that my resonator is completely rusted through and the last couple test drives has left it hanging by one mounting bolt. Any suggestions (on the cheap end)?

A piece of straght pipe, and a new hanger.
