I still haven't been able to work on the car much at all but my wife did allow me to pick up another body today

1969 with everything (and spare parts) including a hard top.
Frame and body are in better condition than the '67.

lol mine had a hard top until I let my son drive the tow car . haha woke to an "oh shit the top blew off " but we couldn't find it ,over 2 hrs on I-5 to no avail . haha clips n all were gone .

Dang, Lorna, thats no good. Sorry to hear that. I saw someone with a hard top for sale recently in the Seattle area ($100).

Since my last post I pressure washed the frame, removed the fenders, doors, hood, and the rest of the interior. The body on this '69 is in WAY better condition than the '67. The body and frame are sitting on a set of rollers pushed to the side of our garage.

I have decided against going with the Hayabusa motor swap... Instead I picked up a 2002 Camaro SS with an LS1 and T56 (6-speed manual).

oh it's cool , it only cost about a grand to replace it ... frame , clips , and soft top . . not a thousand dollar story but I'll squeeze every pinny out of it .haha

If you can get it to hook up it might go well in a straight line... but IMHO it will overwhelm the car (overpowered) and I would imagine the V8 is considerably heavier than an inline 4. I would be concerned about balance. However, I do live locally and would be happy to see how it comes out and to eat my hat if appropriate!

Greg, I'd be interested in checking out your 2000 sometime. I'd love to have you come by and check out the project once I start making some headway.

According to Google, the LS1 weighs 497lbs while the Datsun 1600 weighs about 350lbs. You could be correct about the balance but I will be adding quite a bit of weight and modifications in the rear as well. I will obviously have to modify the rear frame for the axle, add roll cage, relocate the battery, relocate some of the electronics, adding small sub, etc. I plan on building this to enjoy the drive, not just for racing around.

man , how nice to have helpful peeps in an area (state of Washington ) . man, I've begged on here for someone who knows this car to come and show me some stuff , and I got crickets .. not one person said they'll come help or even look . it's good to see there's still nice people out there in the world . . or at least in Washington . lol na I read it allot , that's why I was surprised of no response . but anyway how bout them Seahawks ! haha

I'd help, but the commute from Florida is a bit long...

That is definitely one reason why,after leaving the military, I moved back home. East coast was an ok experience but I missed the Northwest.
Not to dull your sports enthusiasm, I don't watch or follow any sports... at all. At most, I will watch the Superbowl and that's it.

I appreciate the offer. It's only a 52 hr straight drive from NJ. I'm sure it wouldn't be much more from FL.
The only time I have been in Florida was passing through on a long layover. We were there only there for 2hrs and already had fraud charges on our credit card.

As far as the car goes, I have had a bit of time this weekend to tear into the Camaro at least. Dismantling piece by piece and labeling everting.

I'd love to come by, I have family in Gig Harbor... probably headed out there today to hit my favorite mushroom hunting woods. My car is sleeping the winter away right now, and will be going through front end surgery soon, but she will be back on the road this spring when the sun comes out!

haha I was playn with y'all . . Florida has great points about . so does north east etc . I enjoy this state .. all of it . it did look like a big sandbar from the plane though . tie down party . . haha
