It's been awhile since an update here. I have an extremely busy prototype machine shop so that slows things down.

The car has gone through a lot of improvements in the last few months. Rebuilt the motor, added a JT chromoly U20 to 240z clutch flywheel. Let me tell you... the thing is sweet. Motor dyno was 168hp at the crank .040 over pistons C cam.

Lots and lots of things.

And as usual the dog likes to get in the way.

So now if you get an air filter with more flow than a few dime sized holes you'll be at like 190hp!

I am quite sure the air box has little to do with flow. Even though there are only a few holes how much air can one cylinder take in at a time?

When I go see a man about a dyno I think I'll test the theory.

168hp at the crank is an outstanding result, you must be very happy. Where does the C cam make power? Got actual specs on that cam, lift and duration at 50thousands? Will be very interesting how that translates to wheel HP. Keep us updated! Congrats! Now, take the dog for a run, but keep it mellow... someone ask Dave Premo what happens when you take a dog on a long twisty road, heh heh heh!

Since the car was together I decided to take a nice 2200 mile road trip. So after successfully driving the car 90 miles I decided to take it for 2200. The only issue I had was running out of gas in the middle of nowhere. The problem with OR and their filling of your gas. The car normally takes 9.8 gallons when I'd gone 230 miles. I didn't pay attention but at 195 it was coughing. Luckily I coasted into a driveway not but a minute later the property owners came along with their boat on a trailer and they happened to have a can of gas.

I covered from Berkeley to Seattle on major freeways and back on substantially less traveled highways. Pretty places I hit were Crater lake, Shasta, Lassen Peek, Spriso's garage, and everywhere in between.

That's awesome. Great pics. Glad your 2200 mile test drive was successful :)

The progress on this car is just unbelievable. Body off the frame, repaint (from Black to Silver), rebuilt engine and more in such a short amount of time! Wow.

Enjoy!

Brian did the SRL justice. Really happy to see him Enjoying The Ride to break her in...glorious roadtrip style!
We spent the evening looking at it and learning its history.

You are probably wondering where is that rare license plate trim?!!!

Brian is a machinist and he's got some neat parts/solutions on the roadster like integral center caps for those rare Black Racing wheels.

As Brian mentioned it made 168hp on their engine dyno. We will dyno it on the ZCG chassis dyno soon!

It even has the original early style U20 engine rear lift point. Don't see those too often.

Beautiful car!

Cheers
