Did you buy that from a guy in Jacksonville?

No, Tallahassee. The renovation work was started by a man in Jax though, before he passed away. Finished and raced once by the guy I bought it from. Both long time SCCA racers. The car has been raced in the Southeast its whole life.

I think I knew the guy that had it in Jacksonville. I didn't know that he died. Bummer.

How's the racing going?

Unfortunately, this has turned out to not be the year for me to start racing. Had some problems with the car right before the driver's school and had to cancel. Since then a string of family and work issues have shut down racing for now. I'm going to take the summer to work on the car with a somewhat local Datsun Z racer and get ready to go for next season.

Bummer. But that's part of racing. Hang in there and holler if you need something.

Still a slow work in progress. Carbs are done, MSD ignition waiting to go in. Final thrash to driver's school in Feb begins later next month when I get my parent's relocation to NC completed. It's been a long spring/summer getting their house done and sold and a new home purchased in Chapel Hill area. Thanks for your interest.

UPDATE 2/19/18 - We made it to and through school! Had a serious late Wednesday thrash for M/C problems and an ignition problem in the first session, but we survived. Still some things on the car to improve, and for sure on the driver, but we did improve lap times each session even though we still weren't getting power over 6000. It is a pretty intense weekend for a newcomer with 7 track sessions and then 3 practice starts and final race on Sunday afternoon. Tough on an old guy and an old car but we both made it unscathed. I highly recommend it!

What track was this at? Also, who owns the other roadster in the background?!?

I never got to meet the other roadster driver. He was in the SVRA group and I was in SCCA group. We didn't have much time to walk the paddock area with limited time between track sessions, classroom time and individual time with our instructor. I did see him on track a couple times and it is a much better looking car than mine. It is a BRE (or tribute) 2000. The track is Roebling Road outside Savannah. Good track to learn on as the turns are a little more sweeping and not a lot of elevation changes.
