Smoothline no longer uses the original attachment system used by Parrish:

Others considering a new Smoothline top should be aware of the change.

Yes, fortunately I have some extra OEM windshield latches and will modify them to fit the Smoothline top. The J hooks that the top come with look like a very poor solution.

Andrew, I'm going to order a Smoothline for my 68 but wasn't aware of the front latch issue until I went through this thread. If you would post how you convert the front latches to work that would be great. I plan on using the stock latch setup as well.

Thanks, Paul

I finally finished the replacement of the vinyl (carbon fiber look) on my Smoothline. I ordered new rubber and noticed that the front trim they sent was VERY low profile (unlike the original rubber that was delivered). It almost seemed too thin. Here's the result . . .

Looks like I need one of these too! So now that you have been driving the car with the top do you have anymore comments?

I may replace my side clamps which are a hook with a loop. I was driving around this weekend and hit a big bump. The side hook on the passenger side came off. This caused enough movement that the left top latch popped off too.

My recommendation is to check each attachment point often.

Very nice car Shannon, are you running 15 or 16 for shoes? Is this one coming to Solvang?

Yes, I'm bringing this one this year. It's starting to look pretty stale compared to the other magnificent modified cars that will be there.

The wheels are 16" VTOs.
