The SR will bolt right into a 240SX. It will not bolt right into a roadster.

i under stand that, but why are the mounts the same for the 240, but with a ka they can use the stock location but the sr20 can't?

Hmmm, that is a good question.

I am guessing that engine dimensions are the key issue, but that does raise a good point. Anyone got both of them sitting side by side?

With the turbocharged version of the SR, there is too much stuff in the way if the turbo is bottom mounted.
For the NA SR, I think the setup people have used for a KA would work. The mounts are a bit indirect, as the locations are mismatched by a few inches...

Absolutely the SR requires notching the front, but the motor mounts and engines are in the same locations, so the same setup could be used...
I'm not a fan of what it looks like...I used different locations on the SR to mount to so that the mounts didn't have odd joggles in them...

All,
Martin took a couple of shots of the in process swap at the Datsun swap-meet on Oct 16th.
Not close-up photos...but you can see the nice work being done on the engine bay.
Check out the the new all-aluminum radiator upfront. I originally considered reworking the original 1600 radiator, but I just wanted to have outstanding cooling, without the concern of an older radiator. Plus...the all-aluminum looks much better!

Oh...another update..
I'm relocating the battery to the trunk, but I hate the thought of giving up any trunk space...
So I Purchased An Odyssey PC680MJT. This battery is very cool..Only 3 1/16 inches wide. It will be mounted inside the passenger side rear wheel well (hidden away).

Hey, let me know if you want pics and specs on the stainless box that we did our battery relocation with in side the rear pass fender. We used an AGP-based Yuasa battery off of a Honda Goldwing. It has worked flawlessly anf the box is super clean.

Been a long time since I sent out an update of the KA swap...Things are now in the home stretch!! I drove the car yesterday with the KA24de...wow ...what a kick!
Under the hood came out exactly as I was hoping...There has been zero modifications to the frame of the car. Though the KA24de is 30 years newer than the car, it just looks like it belongs there. I did not paint the valve cover or chrome lots of bits...I requested DGR just to make the install look as stock/factory as possible, and that is how it looks.
Have lots of smaller things to get finished up, but DGR has done an amazing swap on the car.
I'm going to have to update the car a bit with some wider tires and comp suspension. Two of the six classic instruments gauges are having some problems (water temp, speedo), so DGR will be contacting the vendor about replacements.
When I get her back, she will get a detail of a lifetime!!! Though fully restored, sitting in storage/shops for extended periods of time have really gotten her very dirty.
Stay tuned...will have picture in the next few weeks.
