The race car took priority today so I was only able to get a quick coat of weldable primer on the panel. I put it back in place and now I have to make some time to start welding it all in place.

If you end up replacing the metal "box" shape under the battery, I'd be interested in seeing how you do it. Mine needs to be replaced. When you made the triangular bends in the photo above, did you used a metal bending brace, or just a piece of plywood or something like that?

I ended up bending a harbor freight brake. It was $50 and works well enough.

I also got a mallet and sandbag from Eastwood for this project

No problem at all. By the way, this is the Bead roller I used to put the flange on the bottom of my sheet metal panel. It is actually a few bucks less than harbor freight. They also offer more dies too.

Pretty slick machine. Does this allow you to join (weld) panels with out a backer plate behind the two butted pieces?

It does, but I don't think you'd want to use that for body work. However that flange technique is how the lower half of the rear quarters are attached. It's mostly, as far as I know, more of a spot weld technique.

A few times last year when the daughter was going to NCU in Greeley, but she moved back this year. I live about 30 miles from Durango.

A trip in one of the roadsters up to Denver would make a nice road trip. Same for you, if you are in this neck of the woods, let me know.
