Steve....

In the fender section... BE SURE to note that the front fender are not a completely sturdy place to lean your butt up into; it will collapse. It does not have a really hearty tinsel strength. Just so the newbie will know.

It sad to have a nice brand new coat of paint lean up for new photo and... <Whumpf> Damn!! Crack, chip, peel and with minor body work to boot.

Cool...

The new paint scenario did not happen to me. But I did lean up against my old 68 donor and that did happen.

Okay, I added the picture of the door brake/stop and the bit about the easily crushed fenders. Plus a few other things. Any more you can think of let me know. Thanks.

Steve, This might be the final word on the door stops. After finding out the rubber piece on my door stop was broken, I went to Lowe's and bought a rubber grommet that works great. It measures:

1 1/8" Outer Diameter - much smaller than original but original oversized
5/8" Inner Diameter - a perfect snug fit
3/8" Thick - perfect match to original

Pretty cool when things work out that well :D Mark

Mark,

That is good to know. I will figure out where I need to post that info on the main site. Sounds like you are making great progress on the roadster.

If you have it, post the Lowe's part number. That can cut down on the rummaging time (an important consideration for us with small kids and an impatient wife...)

Of course Lowe's packages every little thing they sell, so I have the little bag in front of me. The bag has several numbers on it, but I think the correct number is: H881257 (Hillman product)

All the grommets are in one place, not too hard to find. If you have the dimensions, there are only a dozen or so grommets in stock.

1 1/8" Outer Diameter - much smaller than original but original oversized
5/8" Inner Diameter - a perfect snug fit
3/8" Thick - perfect match to original

I put Mark's find in the Tech Section under general body tips. Thanks for sharing Mark.
