There are three circular cut-outs/holes in the body just behind the doors, each about 4' to 5" in diameter. Do I understand correctly that you mounted rear speakers into this area?

I have 2 5 1/4's in those holes. They dont fit, they stick out. I know that 4" will fit because my parts car had some installed already in those holes. The only bad thing is that the sound kinda echoes in the body.

Seems like this would be an ideal area to place one, two, or even three speakers on each side without cutting into the sheet metal. Perhaps some insulation back there would improve the acoustics.



I measured the diameters of the holes at just greater than 4 1/4" each.

Any radio wiring gurus out there? I have a Datsun Clarion AM/FM radio from the 70's. Fits great into the stock location on high-window cars.

It has a "deck" 5-pin input on the back for either an 8-track or cassette, and I'd like to try to use that for an iPod input. Not sure I want to just blindly try to hook things up.

Also, any suggestions for a good, cheap amp with line level inputs with enough juice to drive 4 speakers?

The speaker box was my ultimate answer as well. I got mine at a discount electronic place (Crazy Giddions), and the speakers could use an upgrade. In the past I've installed quite a few pairs of 5 1/4's in the holes as pictured in the posts above. Speakers that small never seem to hold up to my demands.
