I believe that the car is a Triumph (note the LHD, wire wheels and different tail lights)-- I have higher res versions of most of these images that I can zoom in on:

Alvin -
I used the same pic if the 1500 outflanking the two 356's to prove (with historical reference) to my very German wife that Datsuns are better than Porsches...
I am not sure she is completely convinced.
Thanks Michael for the epic history lesson (and the photographic support for my longstanding position...)

It could be argued that the Porsche's are taking the racing line and the 1500 Fairlady is getting out of their way...
I'm glad everyone is enjoying the pics-- I have a few more in the archives that I will try to get posted up-- they were just too good not to share...

Michael - not helping.
Clearly from the terrain, this is a chicane, and the 356's are getting out of the way... The 1500 driver is about to turn into the apex of the second turn.

I'm surprised that no one has made a crack about the triumph having it's hood (bonnet) open. Also note that the Roadsters lined up with it are 1500s.
As an aside, has anyone done any research of what racing numbers have been user on Roadsters?

I should have recognized the Triumph as I have had 4 of the TR4(one TR4A), 5 of the TR3, and one TR2. My Dad had to sell his 1956 TR3 when I was born in 1958. When the family moved from Montreal to Vancouver in 1977, we drove out the TR4, Datsun SPL, and the family Volvo in a convoy across the country.
Fantastic historical data Michael! I love the racing Cedrics.

I think Ron Carter would enjoy the Bob Sharp vintage shot. So I sent him a link via FB
If you are saving the best for last and this is the last ... it is great.
If you can top these ... well great too.
Thanks for the sharing

Hope you do not mind my pile on to the nostalgia
I rode about 100 miles in the back seat of a TR3 once (low cut doors).
The owner came to visit us (my sister with 500 mile trek from Regina Saskatchewan) it was a cold crowded ride (my friend and I in the back) top down.
I was about 12 and remember it well.

Here are some of my own vintage racing photos .... hope you do not mind ...
One with the hood up good for some laughs (we applied ice between runs to the fuel lines).
I had fun and did okay with every day street tires. Most of the other cars were racing only.
Roadster number 49 Cal, broke the Hill Climb time record that year (76). 1.1 miles up hill curvy with cliffs to fall off too!
Some of my most exciting times for sure!
Oh yea and the blue roadster behind mine had Libras ... If I'd only known how popular they would become ...
