Mine has been broken off for the 30 yrs I've had my car. I do have a set up including the mount sitting on a shelf. I have flex form monoleafs and an Rx7 LS. I am nice to the rear end, and rarely purposely spin the tires or do super hard launches knowing I do not have the bar there to keep thipngs from winding up. However, when I have hit it hard it has never done anything I did not expect. I just figure a 40+ yrs old car doesn't need the abuse. I don't have turbo power but do have a strong engine.

I have an early model without the torque rod and I have no problem at all till now. I don't know what problem it will bring without one, but so far no problems. I drove now about 8000 miles with this engine.
Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall,torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Lots of race cars with well over 200+ hp ran without them just fine. Unless you are drag racing/burnouts etc, thst kindof silliness, it doesn't serve much purpose. If you have a 300hp turbo you need a fabbed up solution anyway, the stock torque (tramp) rod isn't very effective and the mount often breaks with just a stock rear...fwiw.

I bought this frame a couple years ago. Its a 67.5 1600 that has many modifications. 4.11 limited slip, konis, dual torque rods, rear sway bar in front of rear end, rear side to side rod behind the rear end, and comp rear springs. In the front, it has konis, comp springs and comp sway bar.
I have never seen all these mods on one frame before. its pretty impressive.

I have the stock torque rod on my Spriso narrowed RX7 rear end and I haven't had any problems. I have done some clutch dumping tire smoking burnouts but not at 6000rpm. Don't need 6000 rpm to smoke the tires. I do however have small 195/60 14" tires. I did re-enforce and modify the torque rod mount on the frame side. Very important to do this as it is not attached very well from the factory. This was at about 14lbs of boost on a tired s14det. It needs rings. Has about 110lbs of compression on each cylinder. Still probably makes over 200hp at the wheels.

I've had chance to put a few miles on with the shortened drive shaft and that seems to have solved my problems. The rear suspension must have been pivoting around the drive shaft to create the sideways motion. I will never know if the second torque rod was necessary but I'm glad I have it.

I have an early model without a torque rod and till now I had never problems, My car runs with the CA18DET with 15psi of boost.

I cannot answer that question because my problem was due to the drive shaft being too long, but let me tell you what was happening with the drive shaft problem. When I hit bumps the rear end would want to jump to the right. The same would happen on heavy acceleration. Driving at freeway speeds was a bit scary if I hit some uneven pavement so I stopped taking the freeways. Now with the shortened drive shaft it is a dream on the open road. Thanks to the forum for solving this problem for me. I would never have figured it out myself. Judging by other posters experience it seems likely you don't need to add torque rods if you are not drag racing.

Well I dit also dragracing with this car and had never problems with that.
My driver shaft is the original 1 piece shaft, that fits directly.
