As far as I can tell, its a new one. My bad, its a NABCO. Its what 2 of the 3 other roadsters that I have regular access have. It does have shims, I put them back where they came from. The fluid did turn black already, and the hose is suspect, infact it was the leading suspect from the beginning. The pedal sits even with the brake pedal. When its working, it engauges in the top half of the throw, the next shift it will be on the floor. 2 shifts after that could be someplace inbetween, or it just won't shift. Does anyone know if the rubber hose is still instock at Nissan? Part #? I think air might be getting in through the hose somehow, but the fluid doesn't leak out yet. I did see some small air bubbles this afternoon when I got home and looked at it, I pumped the pedal (with no resistance) and saw little bubbles rising up from the bottom of the res.

Will, Something that occasionally happens with old hoses is that a "flap" on the inside will come loose. This flap can act like a check valve preventing fluid flow. That sounds like what you have going on. I will see if I can find a part number for the hose for you.

The little bubbles are fluid filling the cylinder, normal, if not too often.

Black fluid after a short time is bad. I got my hose from someone you won't deal with, no need to drag that up again, but wasn't too expensive.
If you have trouble finding for good price, could make up from braided teflon brake hose for about $25.00, that's what my oil gauge hose ended up costing. If Sid finds part # may also cross over to aftermarket at local NAPA store (No pun intended) or whataver other parts store you have.

BTW is there a seal washer where hose attaches to slave cylinder?

I'll just go to Nissan, I can get parts at cost there. Seems to be related to engine temp as well, as long as the engine is cool its ok, the moment it starts warming up, no clutch.

Is the clutch metal line touching a heater hose across the back of the head??

I have no heater. I just swapped the slave and hose, now I have the worlds slowest returning pedal.

The problem is gone, the pedal is fluid, all is good. I ended up replacing everything. The master, the slave and the hose. For a little while, I couldn't get the pedal to return quickly, but after 2 weeks of driving it (700 miles or so) it seems to be fine.

funny thing is that now my clutch feels a bit soft as well....there is a gap before the clutch actually engages....the car shifts fine, but im kind of weary about this...what should i be looking for? Any sugestions?? Thanks guys
