I was dazzled byt the posts Alvin put up on the OS Gilken head S30 so I want to OS Gilken's website and notices a mentin of a 16 valve head for an L16.
That got me here
http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/03/osgiken-tc16c1/
Now, if I won the lottery and could weigh my money instead of counting a bill at a time, this would be a great reason to think about an L16 in a roadster. 16 valve head, 8500 rpm, gear driven cams, double the factory horsepower. Now, that's porn....

FWIW The L-18 is a good fit in a roadster. The only necessary modification to the car is a pocket in the front crossmember to clear the oil pump. The engine can be mounted on the original rubber mounts in their original locations. The engine mounts tilted at the correct angle. The alternator goes on the left side of the engine. The correct stock exhaust manifold clears the steering with no problem. The transmission selection at this time may be limited. The L series SU setup is easy to adapt. The L20B seems to fit under the tall windshield hoods.
No other information is available from me.

I'm assuming you mean the Roadster rubber mounts, correct? Need to see if those can still be bought...
The alternator goes on the left side of the engine.
What is in the way that makes the relocation necessary?

Not at my shop.

Good to know. I prefer the L18 for a car like this, but it's good to know that's an option.
Thanks for all the info!

Have an L20b in my '68. No modifications to the steering column or exhausted manifold. It actually fits pretty nicely in the engine bay. To a non-roadster nut it doesn't look out of place in the car.
