Yes, if it is going to the distributor it should be removed! That is the opposit place to draw vac for vac advance... It must be in front of the throttle plate in the carbs (which the solex don't typically come with, especially those originals) or else the vacuum works backwards from what it's designed to do.

My wife says the interior reminds her of the bathroom in the first house we bought. Shag carpet everywhere including on the frame for the florescent light.
