lol....don't lower you rear tire pressure..since its a radial tire the tire will cup and you will get less traction and worse wear...drag slicks have extremly thin sidewalls so you can lower the pressure. we set ours at 10psi. they are so thin that it actually leaks out air after a couple of days (not flat but quit abit.)
just hide a shift light in your consule. ( do you have one?) it doesn't have to be close, they are so bright that you could put it on the floor and you would probably still see it.
steve
and o you might say that its a one time thing but now that you have gone to the semis you are hooked. look for alvins full drag roadster!!lol.

Alvin, please accept my most humble apology. I was way out of line! I did not mean to offend you or the other 311s posters with my flagrant, careless, and downright dangerous misappropriation of slang. I'm just glad no one got hurt. I retract my statement and offer this in its place:Would the gentleman referring to a SR20 swapped Datsun roadster please retract/change their comment from:
"Way to show the crowd some old school Datsun action"
To:
"Way to show the crowd some old custom Datsun action"
Thank you.
Alvin, way to go!
In the future, I'll stick to the facts and allow other, more talented posters, to apply the correct classification to people's cars. Such power in the hands of a rookie like me could be disastrous.

I ran a 10:36 in my 2089 pound roadster (2339 with me in it) in the 1/8 and using my old U20 motor. It was stock internals with a big cam and Solexes. I ran a 10.05 in the 1/8 with my new hotrod U20 with the same car weight but a slipping clutch. I never got a chance to run it with the hotrod U20 with a good clutch or with the lower weight (1730 pounds). I will take it out with the mild KA that I have in there now and I expect the low nines or high 8's.
I used to bracket race on my old Kawasaki KZ550. It was kind of slow. The nitrous bike guys would dial in without using nitrous. They would chase me down in the elimination round using nitrous and then keep a foot or two ahead through the lights. That would insure that they ran closer to thier dial in than I did. I then would change my strategy and dial in a slower time and try to break out. That would make the nitrous guys break out worse.
There are a lot of strategies you can play.
My automatic 87 Mustang GT ran a 9.71 every time without fail. It was so consistant that the only way I could be beaten is if the other guy beat me at the reaction time. I usually got about a .500-.520 light which is close to perfect on a .500 tree. Remember to launch on the third yellow and you'll be fine.

Alvin,
The VQ is Nissan, but Steve68 is being discouraged from trying to do it. The Miata swap is not, but that swap is not being dissed. Neither is the rotary.
Not trying to start any squabbling - just pointing out some inconsistencies.
I have said before, if you want specs on the Ford, I am not the one to post them as I don't have the car and didn't do the swap.

If Datsun was still making engines, that would be my first choice, wait they are...So, Nissan it is.
Other drivetrains, sure do whatever you want. Stock, modified, Ford, Mazda...Please do what you want and enjoy it.
The VQ is a big engine with a big tranny. A lot of the "classic" qualities and functionality of the car would be lost if the tunnel were wider (where are you going to sit?). That is why it is "discouraged"...I bet the car would be serious fun to drive, though!
I personally hate Fords. Just my opinion because I had a Ranger PU that took a serious crap on me and left me in a financial bind with nothing to drive...
I hope my reasoning for making the posts I do may lend some light as to why others would post with what you think are inconsistencies...

OK Mark, let me break it down for you like this...When I said "way to show the crowd some old school Datsun action" I was speaking from the standpoint of the spectators, "the crowd." The people sitting in the stands watching a 1967 Datsun hustle down the track and hold its own against its newer competitors. 99% of the people there didn't know or care what was under the hood. All they saw was a 40 year old Datsun kicking ass. That feeling of excitement for Alvin was something I thought we all could share since we all have Datsun roadsters.See this is what I don't get
If you look at the motor swap posts they are all about how great and modern the SR20's are. Better technology, faster, etc.
So modern is better.
But now it is how great old school is, but the part of the car Alvin is commenting on in the original post is the modern part of it, not the looks.
So old school is better.
See My confusion?
