nice little ride!
just in case no one has mentioned about les cannaday at classic datsun motorsports... look him up (in vista)...
great guy and he has wealth of knowledge about these cars.

good luck, and enjoy your ride =]

Thanks, kogi. I'm aware of Les' shop and was really excited to have a Datsun expert so close to home (about 8 miles from my house). I called him soon after buying my car, but he said he was more interested in focusing on his racing cars than taking on another project car. He was willing to answer my questions over the phone, though.

I think I might drive over there sometime soon, just to see if he remembers the car. I bought it in Sacramento from a guy who bought it in Escondido, so maybe Les has seen it before and can give me some history on it. Wishful thinking, maybe, but worth a shot.

I just realized that I've been a member of this forum for just over a year now and wanted to thank everyone on here for all of the answers & information you've provided in that time. Before I owned my Datsun, I was not really a person who did their own work on their car, so this info has been incredibly helpful. I've learned more about how cars function in this past year than in all my years previous combined. Prior to owning this roadster, my automotive mechanic experience pretty much maxed out at changing the oil. A couple of months ago, I replaced a blown head gasket - and the car's still running! :) On top of that, I've done dozens of other jobs on the car that I couldn't have done right without the incredibly informed people on this forum who are so generous with their knowledge. Thank you.

Be warned: my car qualifies as a running project, with much left to do, so there will be more questions. And more questions after that! I look forward to the day when I provide more answers than questions on this forum.

But right now, I'm going for a drive!

Pass it on, pay it forward, and all that good stuff! I can't thank the members here enough, and I am always learning something new.
Bring on the next questions!
