I was thinking it reminded me a bit of a shortened Camaro!

I think it's ridiculous and Nissan is way behind.
Long live the Toyobarus, they are the true reincarnations of the Datsun sportscar.

Give me another Murano Cabriolet!

Nissan is doing what it did when it launched Datsun in the U.S. Essentially, it branded something Datsun, with a proper pedigree, hoping the offerings might work in the U.S., with the intention of waiting to see before the Nissan brand was introduced.

Beyond that, Nissan is using Datsun as Toyota's Scion equivalent. Japanese car manufacturers at times tend to copy more than innovate. Not the first to recognize this, I know. Nissan needs a Scion equivalent, just like it has Infiniti to rival Lexus.

The new Datsun is like the old Datsun. Yes, I get that the roadsters, 510s and 240 Z were excellent, and even iconic, but Nissan did not know that they would be received as that when they were launched. Indeed, it took years. Nissan is very conservative and protective of its name.

I like Datsuns much better than Nissans, but Nissan likes the Nissan name much better than the Datsun name. Using the Datsun brand now is just another experimentation.

I don't think it tarnishes our roadsters. It may be a good thing to have the Datsun name become more common, particularly if the cars turn out good.

Let's hope so.

I saw the Silvia in the design as well...

I want to know more about the Nissan Levis though.

Well, the concept car (interior and exterior) are well, concepts, and hopefully a lot of the design experiments would not come over to a production version. But the general look of the car is appealing to me for the most part and sufficiently different from some of the other offerings out there now. It has a 510 feel, sorta boxy.

Still, I would love to find a nice ST Celica like the one posted. Other than their awkward front end turn signals, I think they are slick and sexy when done right.

You mean Subota?
The Murano Cabrio is quite possibly the dumbest car built in the last 10 years. the few I've seen on the road looked like a bathtub full of female senior citizen golfers.

Welp, It's official:

We could see the IDx by 2016. I like this "new" old class of car; small, lightweight, RWD, relatively inexpensive. BRZ, Genesis Coupe, FR-1 (admittedly will be more expensive, likely in the 370z range), and now the Nissan.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot the Kia GT4 possibly going to production as well.

I like it. Anything new at that price is appealing, if not amazing. But I fear the very low price for a new car branded Datsun could have the unattended consequence of devaluing old Datsuns.

Hope not.
