Hello from Australia Neil. Try a solex equipped sr311 2000 if you can. They will retain the highest overall values and you will be addicted to opening the carbs on that screaming U20.

Welcome from Citrus Heights. Going to the Datsun meeting is a great way to meet people in this area. Going to all the shows in the Bay is very good as well. If you find yourself in my part of Sacramento stop by I am near the Sunrise Mall.

For all of you Sacramento Datsun people, I talked to the president of the Sacramento Datsun Owners Club about the monthly meetings. They are on the 1st Friday of the month at the Round Table Pizza Parlor on Sunrise Blvd. about 3/4 mile north of 50 (west side of the street in the shopping center). They usually get started around 6:45 - 7:00 but people start showing up around 6:30 depending on the time of year (later in the winter months).

The one month that I was going to email people about it was for the July 5th meeting but I wasn't sure if there would be a meeting or not due to the holiday and because the meeting date was switched the previous month due to the Canby meet.

Well, I was informed that over the last 5 or 6 years, the meeting date has only been changed once (May, 2013) so mark your calendar to come by and chat. The club was originally mostly 510's but the roadster owners have been increasing in number along with some Z's and other early Datsuns' (411, 1200, etc.)

Cool info. I'll try to come by. You guys are going to kill me, but I've been looking to buy an MGB since I'm having trouble finding a good 311. I'd still buy a 311 when the right one comes along at the right time! =)

Buy the MG. You will appreciate the Roadster that much more... There are several good 311's on Ebay now, particularly the 67 w/ the U20.

That actually looks pretty fairly priced to me, if everything works, and there is no rust I'd pay that if I were in the market.
For getting it running - fluids of course, and then I would count on replacing all hydraulics (brakes and clutch) which could be upwards of $1000 for all new parts less if you can rebuild or make existing work. It sure looks like it would clean up nicely.
