Hondas (except the S2000 or an NSX) are rice-burners, Jettas (aside from being chick cars) are bratwurst-burners. Nothing cool about either, infact anything front wheel drive is just trying to be cool no matter what it is. The only car that doesn't fall in that category is the old Mini Cooper S. Those are the only FWD cars that are worth my time.

The twin tips were stock on the 1500s and the 1600s through the 67 model year. The megaphone was stock on the 67.5s through the end of production. There is a caveat though. The first 70 SRLs came with the smaller exhaust and the twin tip resonator....

Not to argue, but my 67.5 1600 had the twin tip exhaust when brand new. Megaphone probably started with the 68s.

I beleve the 67.5 2000 was the begining of the megaphone tips. I know they are correct for the 67.5 2000s.

According to the parts book, the dual tip exhaust was appropriate for 1600s up to chassis SP311-03000, SPL311-17000, SR311-00007 and SRL311-00069. The megaphone came on all 1600s and 2000s after those numbers. That is probably close to accurate. The reality is that just because the parts book says that all 67.5 1600s came with the dual tip resonator does not mean that it was always so. Nissan often would predate and update depending on what parts were available - hence the fact that the first 7 RHD 2000s and the first 69 LHD 2000s came with the dual tip. You can bet that there were some others around that era that had something that the parts book would indicate is not correct. The same holds true for late production 67.5 1600s.

Then there were undocumented changes. Did you know that there were at least two versions of the 67.5 headrests? That is not documented anywhere, but I have had both versions in hand. The parts book is pretty clear that all 67.5s should have the wide flare fenders. I parted out a 67.5 that had small flares all around. It was a very early 67.5, and there was no evidence that the fenders had ever been off - especially the rear. The parts book says that it did not happen, but I had an example. Rallye even speaks to that in their catalog or website - I forget which right now.

My 69 doesn't have marker lights, and I don't think it ever did. I know that SRL#455 has the antenna on the wrong side, it was put there at the factory. There are 2 different types of comp oilpans, I have both, one a 7.5 and the other 8 qt at least. Roadsters have all sorts of quirks that not everyone know about.

Impinhigh is the winner. Now I have to come up with a prize package...
How about a worn out 69 2000 smog distributor with bad points?

Used 4-speeds are basically free

I've seen 2 on ebay go for $75 or less recently. Just get one of those and put it in. You'll be happier. At least that's what I do now (right after rebuildng mine because of the exact same problem I saw one with less than 1000 miles on a professional rebuild go for $65. I will never rebuild another 4-speed)

I already have mine working again(it is not stuck). In case I need another 4 spd, I have a parts car that has one that is working.
