The front crank pulley and diff flange should be within 1 degree (maximum) of parallel.

0 +/- 1 degree is best. This method Should make up for any tooling/chassis anomalies.

@pebbles:

where is the long sleeve in the X-frame for?

Image

the angle measurement tool is a real good idea. Than I know for sure it must be all in the right position. My mind needs satisfaction about this.

Image

is this the final position of your transmission above the X-frame?

Long sleeve? Not quite sure what you are asking.

Yes that is final position. It will be tight in the top of the tunnel.

what is this groove for? if you are that hight with transmission, that will be not necessary for the X-frame to cut in... :?:

That is not modified. It is the factory weld.

we did some measurements at the differential flange and the crankshaftpulley.
And it's 1 degree, so the transmission is in the right position. It is lower than the 38mm (probably because we highered the rear about 4cm under the leafsprings. the new rear gasshocks where to long and needed a longer shockway, that's why the differential is maybe under another angle so our transmission is seated lower).

Mine has that same groove. It looks to me like it was a hole in the top plate to make it easier at the factory to weld it to the two rails.

Let me guess.... The cars with the grooves are late (post 67.5) cars.

fitting body on chassis with engine in place
it fits, for perfect fitment we removed the ignition and distributorcap, breathing hose/pipe transmission modified, fuelline engine modified, firewall needs to be flattened, need another exhaustmanifold (steering shaft needs space)
