Very Nice, well worth the investment to get rolling down the road again.
Inspect the firewall bulkhead for stress cracks and fatigue when replacing the master. Vendors sell a brake brace, for added support and peace of mind.

As far as year, a 69 should have a safety hook on the hood latch/cowl, And rubber snubbers between the body and rear bumper ends.
SRL07001 is a 69 A 69 will have the vin in two locations as well.
SPL17001 is a 68.

I have included a picture of the rear bumper. It looks like the light is in the rear bumper, so another reason to conclude that it is a '68?

Also, If you look close, the license plate was from 1991. Long time ago it was on the road.....

Welcome, glad to see another roadster owner in the Chicagolandish area...I'm up in the far NW burbs of Chicago & I've got both a 68 & 69 roadster. Your's definitely looks like a '68 as a '69 has the teardrop side markers on the front fenders & also has two side license lamps in addition to the bumper lamp. Yuo should be able to get that thing going and have her ready for a spring or summer meet-up next season, yes there are a few roadsters in Chicago.

LocoBill, you mentioned a possible crack in the exhaust manifold. My experience is that they will recrack after they are welded up, leaving you to do this dance over and over. I finally ripped mine out for a header after doing this dance twice. They can be difficult to remove, so if you run into trouble let us know. I recall unbolting the motor mount was helpful for gaining clearance engine to frame. If it's cracked, I suggest removal and replacement with a header (see vendors or try ebay/craigslist or us). You will have to have the exhaust pipe modified at a shop, and you may want to add a flex pipe, but I think most will agree that, once cracked, this is the better way to go.

Well, I picked up a used exhaust manifold from Ebay. Waiting for it to arrive.
In the meantime, we rebuilt the carbs and put in the new Clutch master cylinder. Engine starts easily and now it moves forward and backward!! Yeah!!

We pulled the gas tank out and will clean it and take it to a local radiator shop for boiling. It came out very easy, except one of the strap bolts broke off, so we will have to drill it out.
The radiator and heater hoses looked bad, so will order them next.

The brakes go to the floor, so am debating whether to try to bleed them and see if they hold, or look into a rebuild kit. I see that there two types of kits available, for $99 and $159. Any preferences?

While starting it the other day, the throttle control knob pulled out of the dash! These pups are not cheap to replace. $161. I think I will do without this for awhile.

So far, so good.
Cool, I see that I have been elevated from a Lurker to a Roadster Newbie!!
