Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
There is still room at this event if anyone is interested. That said, are there any roadsters showing up for this? I think mine is going to stay in the bat cave this weekend, I've got too many things going on to go get it and get it prepped.

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
Hey Will, I won't be bringing out the Roadster for the AutoX, but as I mentioned before, I will be on track with Trackmasters in the Cayman S. If you want to ride with me for any sessions of the event, I'd welcome you in the passenger seat if you want to come out. Look for me in the pits / on grid in the Black Cayman S with the # 62 on the side. I could always use some feedback from the right-side seat!SLOroadster wrote:... are there any roadsters showing up for this? Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
Dave,
I'll try and find you. I'll be there with my M3 (it will be the only E30 M3 at the autoX most likely, and will be parked down near the course so I can take students for rides). I would have brought the roadster out but no other roadsters are running (apparently) and its just easier to run the street car since there are no points involved.
What group are you running, beginner, intermediate, mixed or advanced? I should be able to sneak away for some track time. If you want to head over for a run around the autoX, feel free. I can take an "Instructors privilege" run at pretty much any time. In the morning we will be running stations, but in the afternoon the stations will be tied together and the full course will run.

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
See you there, Will. Anyone else in the area, come on out...Its just a short drive away!
Will: I would love to pop over to the AutoX and check the M3 and maybe sneak a run in. On the grid, I will be running with the Advanced group, so come find me during our runs at 8 am, 9:40 am, 12:15, 1:55 and 3:40. Two hours of track time...the last of my Toyo 888s may be toast by the fifth session!

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
Will & Dave,
I'm signed up and good to go. I'm running on tame and tall all seasons so it's mainly just to feel the car out.
Looks like i'll be the only roadster from here out there. I've never driven the car too hard so this will be good fun.
Dave, please pencil me in somewhere if it works out. Would love to see you at work in the Caymen!

Leo,
Would you like to run a set of bias ply Hoosier Street TDs? I can bring my set out, I don't know how sticky they are but they will fit in the back of the car pretty easily. You'll just need tools and a jack. The tires were free to me, mounted on a set of 14x7 Panasports. Assuming you have stock lugs, I have a set of lugnuts to run them with.
Let me know.

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
will,
that's a hell of an offer! I would absolutely love to take you up on it, but...
i can't in good conscience tear up your tires all day and give them back to you rode hard and possibly used up (hoosiers at that too).
I appreciate the generous gesture, but will have to respectfully pass. (i've seen what i've done in the past to tires at an all day autox session)
see you out there. looking forward to your input on the car.

ps:
-are they still planning to let us take a parade lap in our cars on the big track?
-good turnout signed up for the class?

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
As of last night, there were 30 people signed up. That means a HUGE amount of seat time for everyone. Yes, as far as I know, parade laps are on.
As for the tires, I pulled them out of the used tire pile at the track, I have another set of road race tires (RA1s) that have a little more grip so pretty much I don't care about the Street TDs. They might be used up (head cycled out already.) I have another set of them sitting outside that look to be more used than the ones on the Panasports. If I remember this evening after I get home from setting the course up, I'll throw them in the car and bring them out. You could run the morning session on your tires and the afternoon on the race tires. Its not a big deal. At this point these tires are my beater race tires since I have a brand new set of Hankook C71s on my other set of wheels.
See you tomorrow.

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
Leo,
I will definitely save you a seat for at least one session. And just FYI I will have a low-profile floor jack, impact gun and torque wrench you can use to swap the wheels and tires that Will has so generously offered you. You may just need to make sure you have 1/2" drive socket that fits your wheel lugs, as mine may be different than yours. See you out there tomorrow!

Re: AutoX test and tune day at Sears Point
Not that anyone will read this before heading out in the morning, but the course is entertaining to say the least. The first section is slow, and technical, then it opens up into a couple 3rd gear sections that should really rip, assuming you get the entries to them correct. Lots of unexpected features in this course. Drivers will really have to be on top of things to really make the most of the course.

Alex,
Grab your helmet and swing out anyway if you can. Take some rides on the big track, the autoX track ect. Just because your car is a little unhappy doesn't mean you cant come out and have fun anyway.
