Hi Matt,

No not yet it is on its way, probably be 1st week in September, just ready for spring.

The first thing I will have to address is that apparently it has a short when the ignition key is turned on, it shorts out and the alternater doesn't charge and some of the guages won't work from the same short.

So in preperation I have had a wiring diagram blown up and laminated and a 510 ingnition sent to try first up.

I have purchased a couple of amber lenses to go in the back and will have to look at how to stop both side rear lights flashing on each side, apparently a late 1970 US feature.

After these things are sorted I can then go for registration,

I have bought a couple of japanese rims and am waiting for some more to come up for sale.

I am looking forward to the car arriving.

Lou has helped with some US car issues so he may be good advice.

Today my 510 ignition arrived, it will be one of the first attempts at fixing the wiring short.

The mags I will post after I have found some more.

Well my roadster arrived last Thursday...











The car is in pretty good shape for it's age.

So now the fun begins... I have repaired the ignition swith, but that has not fixed the short in the wiring, we spent hours looking at the wiring last night and found that the wiper motor had lost both it's mounting bolts so when the wipers are turned on the whole wiper motor goes on a journey back and forth, this has possibly worn some wires through and created a short, we also found some other wires that have fused together, we isolated a few things to work out where the shorts could be but because of the number of shorts we are going to replace the fuse box and under dash wiring loom with ones from the US.









I have been going through the jets in the carbies and noting all the sizes before I start on the sorting out of the carbies.
It has 135 fuel and 140 air jets which seems to indicate a rich set-up. 34mm chokes, idles screws were at 1 1/4 turns out which should be right.

Does anyone know what the pipes coming from under the Solexes are for, some kind of overflow perhaps?

Ignition timing is set at 23deg BTDC.

There were some cork gaskets inbetween the air filter base and carbes that were tightened incorrectly causing the baseplate to be warped which in turn meant that the air filter did not seal properly.The base plate was straight when taken off and carbes were aligned with a straight edge so will go back with thinner gaskets.

It looks like Ron has fitted brand new bumpers and taillights which is very cool.

I have ordered all new boots for the front end ball joints and steering to be replaced as they are gone and I want everything to be safe before I go to get the car registered. The old tyres that were put on were all cracked and dangerous, lucky Ron didn't have an accident on the way to drop the car off.

I have some used SSR jdm mag wheels from Japan to put on after I get them cleaned up.

I will post some picture of them after I get them powder coated.

I am replacing the side marker lights with clear ones and also have put some amber lights in the back.

Does anyone know where I can get the grommet that is under the cigarette lighter?

I went on my first Datsun run on Sunday but had to go in my AMG, I had a lot of fun and met some great people, it will be great when I can take my roadster in the future.

I will post updates as we progress with getting the car back into line.

You know the previous oner liked to change wheels.

Yes I did, which is why I went looking at SSR wheels, although I have not seen any pictures of the ones I have chosen on a Roadster.
Some will like them and some won't is my guess.

They are SSR MK2R 15x6.5" and 15x7" with a staggered lip look.

The centers will be powder coated a copper-bronze colour.

Your carb jetting is what Mikuni used with them in their last version. I would recommend a change to 37mm chokes, reset of the accelerator rod to the bottom (?) hole, and more likely a 160-165 main 190-200 air... Do talk to Down Under 311! Congrats again on the car!

In the copper coloured photos the centers are not in as far as they will sit when bolted up, they will also look better with all the chrome bolts and wheel studs in and the lips polished.

I am trying colours with spray cans to see what colour will be best, then will get them powdercoated.
