IMHO that is a lot of money for a beat up 1600. You can get a decent 2000 that runs for $3500 - I would hold out for that if I were you.

Cheers
James

I saw this one on ebay. It's quite far, but it would be quite a fun drive! I wonder what the reserve is though. What do you guys think. I could probably make it home in 2 days, maybe less depending on my stamina, I mean, I do love to drive, and I'd get to visit many places I've never even dreamed of going. HAHA.

That looks like the same one I posted. It must be the same as the one on ebay. I will update my location as well. Thanks!

I have basically the same car, bought it from Bob2 in St Louis, Mo, drove it home 1100 miles to New Jersey. Great trip, love the car. One important difference, I've known Bob for years, but this sounds like a car that gets driven, you'll get a feel if you contact the guy, but that's a smoking deal at 4400. The 4 speed 2000s are fast off the line. Get classic insurance with a GOOD roadside assistance before the trip.

Rolando, welcome and happy hunting for your roadster!

Living in San Jose...no brainer to wait for the non-rusty version. Also second the advice to get something that starts, moves and stops. If you are a mechanic your options are probably many. You will be able to Ed China something. 40% more horsepower of 2 liter and 5 speed are nice. 1600s get along just fine. Familiarize yourself with the different interior styles. You may find a preference.

And did you read Alvin and Michael's inspiring comments on SR engine swaps!! Whoo hoo!

Alright guys, depending on some pictures that are soon to arrive in my inbox, I may have found my roadster. I thought it would be out of my price range, but it seems the price listed was no where near what the buyer was looking for. Also depending on the price of fixing the fan blade and rear wheel bearing, I may be bringing that puppy home in mid to late april. I hope it all works out well. How much would you guess parts and labor would be to R&R a rear wheel bearing and install the Radiator Fan? I'm about to look up parts prices! I hope it goes as planned!

Wheel bearing set with seals have been listed for around $120 bucks on E-bay.
Not sure what they mean on the fan, if it's just the blade - then the parts are cheap (used, Ross Mullen or E-bay), but if they have some other issue as to why the fan blade is gone, then it's a different/bigger question. Maybe they have installed an electric fan?

The fan blade actually had a crack and broke, It's there, but it's missing a blade. It should be less than 500$ to do both jobs then. It doesn't seem to bad! Still waiting on his e-mail. Fingers crossed!

Do yourself a favor and dump the stock fan for an electric... a lot quieter, frees 5000 extra hp (well, I can dream) and can cool a bit better in traffic.

Will a normal 12 volt electric fan work? I'm new like I said, but don't these cars work on a 6v system? Would I have to order a special one or will it work either way...and i'm assuming I would just have to splice it in to the wiring? I think for the trip the normal fan might do good enough, but when I get home and have time to work on it, i'll swap it out for an electric.

Roadsters are 12V.

You should only need a fan during stop and go. You can get a thermostat switch to control the fan.

That shows how new I am to these cars! Haha. Thank you very much. I will tackle that task when I make it home back to the bay area if the car falls into my hands. Man am I anxious. Wish me luck fellas!

You most likely know this, but don't drive it with a broken fan. Hoods and radiators get expensive.
