The 1500 radiator is a different animal, it has a cap on the radiator and no filler on the engine. I have a stock 64 here that was recored to a 3 core , so it can be done. I'm keeping it for now, have the alum Champion too, we'll see what fits.
I heard some up and down reviews on the Champions performance at Solvang, one of the guys there has a 1600 stroker with one in it that is overheating at highway speeds, prompting the discussion.

If he has a 3 row aluminium radiator I doubt its the radiator giving him problems. Water pump, thermostat, head gasket, hoses, timing. But what do I know?

That was where the discussion went too, same conclusions. Mark mentioned that the Autometer gauge in his car was off by 10-15 degrees, this car had the same one.

I have SPL27829 and it went without a lot of trouble.....well not that much. But im sure there all made a little different.

I called and informed him of my VIN 26244, and Tony there said he had the right radiator for my car.

I don't really NEED it, my car runs fine.
I figured I'd "take one for the team" and document this product for all of us.
Nice to have a spare around anyway.

I bought one previously for my 70. As I was doing the conversion, I never tried to install in the stock location as I did not have or know about the crossbar radiator mounts that were missing from my car. My conversation with Champion went along the lines of; the radiators are dimensionally the same, the differences come in the vent tubes and the post vin 25000 having the rad fill neck in the upper tank. I ruined the one I bought trying to modify it. I will be getting another as the inlet/outlet config is perfect for my swap.

I just bought the three row one Dean offered up along with all the cooling gear from the block out. It is very cool and made from an original radiator so perfect fit. Of course I have to complain but it’s minor. There is a bit of pitting and roughness on the mounting tabs but of no real consequence. My old radiator was in much better shape in that regard but Dean's radiator is a perfect fit and a very nice piece otherwise. I recommend this piece highly.
