Thanks guys. Just a quick update. I got my garage painted and put up some lights so I can see what the heck I'm doing. And this weekend I pulled the hood and fenders off and got the body ready to come off. And hopefully before next weekend I'll have the body off and start tearing into the engine. I plan to have the frame and suspension sand blasted and either powder coated or possibly painted with some sort of bullit proof paint in the spring. So the winter is gonna be filled up with running fuel and brake lines and probably some body work.
So does anyone have any suggestions on frame paint? And for that matter sr20det suppliers in northwestern USA or preferably Canada?
Hope to get a build thread going soon.

Powdercoat it. Don't mess with painting it. Powdercoating is much more durable and won't be such a pain in the a$$ to deal with.

I'm just getting ready to coat my frame for my '69 sr20 project. I've decided to use POR15
Chassis Black. Will be taking pics of the project as I progress. Hopefully I'll get the frame/chassis together this winter along with the flat dash conversion and prep for paint. Time to enjoy the new shop!

Time and or $$$
I dropped my frame off, and had it back in 3 days. fast. (only 3 miles away). The powder actually gets drawn inside the frame,,,,places you cant paint. seals in the mouse pee.
I blasted and por 15ed some smaller peices in the cabinet, spindles, knuckles, pitman, etc..
What I like about POR is that it flows well. you can brush it on, and it looks ok after it dries. There is also a topcoat POR, if you want it really pretty. (UV protection). (plug holes too).
If you blast, paint immediatly, cuz this metal rusts overnight.

TIP in ohio has alot of good products as well as Eastwood.

There is a place here in Lynwwood Wa that sells front clips for 2500-3500. dont know if they ship.

PICS please.

The only problem I have with powdercoating is the availability in my area. There is one company near here that does powdercoating but I think they mostly do industrial work. THere is a place that will be sandblasting my frame that offers a crazy industrial paint that I'm thinking about going with rather than powdercoating. There are a whole mess of guys in a local car club that swear by the paint so I might give it a try. And yeah the smaller stuff is gonna get por 15'd. Or some variation of that.

If the industrial paint they are talking about happens to be DeVoe Coating(aka AmerShield), that stuff is awesome and what I used on my frame. It is 10,000 hour salt spray rated and hard as nails. It's used on the underwater pilings of the off shore oil rigs. We have used it and it's predecessor for years with great results.

There is a place just outside of Vernon that does powder coating. Galaxy powdercoating (Lavington or Lumby). I had a headache rack and lumber rack done on my truck. Good prices, great quality. Its a bit of a drive from Trail I know, but give them a call.

Thanks Jim.
Yeah I was gonna try to not have to haul it that far. If the local company can't do it I might just gt some por15 or something for now. Just so I can drive the thing and fuel the addiction. Got the doors on my garage insulated last night. Now I just gotta throw a top on the bench I built and build a stand for the body and I'll really get down to work. If I can find a sr20det this winter I'll put that in straight away, but if not I'll probably just run the 1600 for a bit. But I am gonna do the frame mods while I'm in there.
