If you can get his phone number, you might try talking to him. I have dealt with people who were lousy emailers but did pretty good when I talked to them. Makes it more personal.

Everyone seems to agree, It's gone beyond reasonable and it's not a small amount of money. If you settle it that's good for all involved. Do the Paypal now, it's covers you before time runs out and will have no real backlash on this person if they really are having difficulties. It's not like they are unaware of the problem. Nobody likes blowing the whistle, but you passed reasonable a few weeks ago.

My only comment is if this same person is currently offering something here and/or sells on Ebay, then it would seem prudent to post his name with a "buyer beware", here and if there is a current item for sale, either on that post or contact the moderators and let them step in if they feel it's needed. No sense having more people have a similar problem.

Well, I went ahead and filed the Paypal claim this afternoon. Don't really like doing it but really had no choice as the last email through 311's.org sits "unopened".

The seller I was dealing with was Rory (67411sss on this website) and his "business partner" Mike Stubbs. Paypal address Rory asked me to send payment to shows Mike's name so I asked what the deal was and Rory told me Mike is his Datsun business partner. His regular email is exit64@gorge.net.

They say things come in 3's - I certainly hope not as I also had to file a claim on kingbriton for non-payment of an eBay item purchased. I believe he was posting on this website regarding fuel pump questions. The name used on both eBay and 311's is kingbriton, his name is Karl, they both live in the UK and he purchased a fuel pump on Oct. 13, 2010 from me right when he was asking questions about fuel pumps on this website. Might just be a coincidence but it would be an unusual amount of data that matches two random individuals.

Similar story as above - 2 invoices sent, claim filed through eBay - no response from Karl about any of it. eBay determined in my favor and reversed the final value fee back to me. Obvious not practical to telephone in this case.

If the person on 311's is not the Karl Arthur I had problems with on eBay (moderators - I'm happy to provide additional address info by pm to confirm or deny), I am more than happy to offer an apology and retraction of this part of the complaint as I'm not interested in "tarnishing" somebody's reputation unjustly.

Phed58,
I was not aware of this situation. I will get to the bottom of this tomorrow with Rory.

Mike,
I would appreciate that - I would have thought that he had communicated with you about the situation but that was a bad assumption on my part. As stated in a previous post, I'm not interested in trashing anyone's name and certainly not trying to catch anybody by surprise, just would like my parts. Thanks. Paul

I'd just like to say, Phred58 (Paul) has shown an amazingly cool head and has handled this in a very careful, respectful manner. In this world, that is not always the case, so I like to applaud this when I see it. We'd have a lot fewer problems in the world if everyone acted in this manner when conflict or problems occur. Well done Paul.

Thanks and I also want to thank Mike Stubbs for jumping in. "Shifty" contacted him about the thread yesterday and he's already contacted me by email and phone. It appears to moving forward which was the goal all along. Paul

First off i would like to openly say sorry to Phed58 for the very long delay in getting those parts out, i haven't been on here for a while and sometimes notifications go to my junk mail. I was hoping to find some additional parts to sell to Phed, but that didn't work out. This has nothing to do with Mike Stubbs it is all my fault. I have sold parts (and a car) to other members without any complaints and consider myself a pretty honest guy, just a little slow at shipping  I know the community is a small and close knit one and it was not my wish to be tarred and feathered publicly over this or to drag Mike through this as well. I know i dropped the ball on this one and am very, very sorry. Rory

Rory,

Thank you for the sincere apology. I appreciate it as it is something that is rarely offered anymore. I believe it to be sincere because there are no excuses attached to it as is often the case.

Thank you for stepping up and offering it; I accept it and now we can move on down the road! Paul

Paul and Rory, you illustrate my point perfectly. In life, problems and conflicts occur, that is a given; it is HOW you choose to handle them that matters. Paul acted in an honorable, respectful manner and allowed Rory to step up, take responsibilty and move forward. Can you tell I'm a therapist? (social worker in an ER now actually). This can't always happen cause not everyone involved will do what is necessary, but it sure is nice to see when it does. A good representation of what being a "Roadster person" is to me. Thanks for being real men.

Now Rory, ship them parts! :D

Wanted all to know who have been following this thread that the parts arrived today and are as described so it looks like this one can be put to bed.

Thanks Mike, Rory.

With the way this was resolved I would not have any reservations on purchases from these folks. That is so awesome.

Well, there is -ONE- thing wrong with Rory. He's from New Zealand where they pull a fast one on you. The beer tastes like good Aussie beer, but it's only 3.2.

They also like to close the pubs early (at least they did in '79.)

Ahhhhh, maybe both reasons are why Rory moved to Oregon, eh?
