Jon,

You Are The Man! Unfortunately, that information didn't translate here in the US. My paint supplier checked his resources and called around and wasn't getting any matches. Thanks for your input.

Solution Found:
One of the local Roadster owners, Victor Laury, has a '70 SRL311 665 Roadster. I e-mailed him to see if he had a part off his car I might borrow to have it color matched. He called me back and said he didn't have a part, but he has a pint of paint he had color matched. I will swing by his house this week and pick it up, have my paint supplier match it, and get it back to him. My paint supplier will put a pint into four aerosol cans for me. It's just the engine bay.

This is Victor's car:

What a great group of people this community is.Thanks ALL for your input.

For stock paint...I highly recommend Tower Paint in Wisconsin. If you supply them with the Datsun Paint Code (665) and the associated PPG Code, they can custom make you aerosol cans. They have previously made me cans of both Sora Blue and Silver.

I am not trying to hi-jack this thread, but I had a problem with Tower Paint that may be relevant. Like Keith, I wanted to clean up my engine bay, but my color choice is 511 Silver Gray Metallic. I ordered 3 cans of PPG #32536 from Tower Paint and they are extremely blue, like the background color of this forum. I don't know what went wrong but using the PPG matched numbers for the original Datsun paint codes from Tower Paint did not work for me.

Please forgive me in advance if this post is too far off topic,
Jack

Jack,

What did Tower do when you contacted them to give them the scoop?

When the question above was asked, I was in the middle of my problem resolution process. In the past days, Tower Paint replaced my three cans with a color that is much better. They said they had an alternate formula for that PPG paint code number. The color sent on the second attempt is what I expected and there also seems to be much better coverage from the second batch. Something went wrong with the first batch, but Tower Paint was professional and customer oriented through the problem resolution process and I would use them again and I would also recommend them.

I believe that the numbers above refer to Deltron Colors

Datsun Yellow 665

PPG code NIS665

700 1232.50 (-1.23/+1.23) D700 White
705 39.10 (-0.05/+0.05) 1271.60 D705 Lemon Chrome
703 26.10 (-0.05/+0.05) 1297.70 D703 Trace Blue Black

start with 1232 grams of D700 (PPG White) and add 39.1 grams of D705 Lemon Chrome followed by 26.1 grams of D703 Trace Blue Black for a total of 1297.70 grams and 999.93 ml ( 1 litre ). Seal the can well and put it in the paint mixer and shake , not stirred.

blattajon wrote: Wed Sep 29, 2010 1:51 pm I have the same color-665.I made efforts to get it,and got the recipe from germany. It`s like this:
PPG code NIS665
Quality:DG PB DELTRON
Component Nominell tolerance Accumulated
700 1232,50 -1.23/+1.23 1232,50
705 39,10 -0.05/+0.05 1271,60
703 26,10 -0.05/+0.05 1297,70
---------------------------------------------------------
sum(q) 1297,70
sum (ml) 999,93

It doesn`t tell me very much, but maybe a pro. I got mixed one litre, and painted by a pro.
no difference in color.

I called ADCO paint in Glendale, AZ and texted Skyler the formula above and she said no problem. I ordered a quart to touch up the engine compartment around the battery and brake master cylinder areas. Thanks for the information!
