I like the axle grease undercoating. A run on a dirt road would probably give it a hard coat too.
I knew a guy that put Vaseline on the underside of the exterior door handles. It gave would be thieves something to think about.

^ There it's fixed, now I can get the lug wrench, the jack and half the spare out wthout opening the trunk.

oh no you dint int!!! Im suprised the plate is not hinged!!!!! squeek squeek!!

PO didn't mind wasting some bondo instead of pulling out the dent! I plan on fixing it just a bit better this time.

Well, this is pretty minor but when I removed the seats from my SRL last weekend I found those nice thick manifold washers being used under the car on the seat bolts.

And I am betting any amount of money that I will find bondo like Brian has pictured above. The rear wheel lips are over an inch thick. LOL

This is not a roadster but an 84 wabbit rag top I bought for $400. Its up and running now. And all this is cleaned up real nice.

When I was in high school, I locked the keys in the trunk of my 66 GrandPrix at lunchtime. No problem, took out the back seat, crawled in 4 or 5 feet between the braces into the trunk, WAY in, big car. Couldn't release it from inside, so I was fumbling around looking for the keys among the junk, I just got my hands on the keys when a "friend" thought this would be a great time to toss in a pack of firecrackers. Took 10 years off my life, and was deaf for a few hours, but didn't drop the keys.

It's funny now, but if I could have crawled out faster, I would have killed him. I was sitting in class the rest of the day, ears ringing, couldn't hear a damn thing.

Does bondo-ing an old calculator face plate in as steel backing for a patch on the fender of a 72 Volvo count as a sin if the car was already painted pink with a brush before my friend bought it? Sure made touch ups easy... You need to be a pretty confident guy to drive a pink Volvo... He was a better man than me in that regard.

The things we learn along the way. Mine dates back to college.

Someone probably still has a '68 1600 that I modified poorly to fit a pair of Craig speakers. I speculated the air volume of the trunk might make for great acoustics & low end response. So I cut perfect round holes in the back wall between the trunk and the parcel shelf.

I did all this work with the trunk lid up, carefully measuring left to right, up and down, so the speakers would sit "just so."

As it happened, I soon found out this location was also to be where the hinges wanted to sit when the trunk was closed. Craig's massive magnet structure on superior speaker cones meant the trunk lid came to within 2 inches of being closed, as the hinges hit the back of the speakers, dead center.

I took the hinges off and trusted the lock to hold the lid down from then on. I don't remember how the buyer interpreted the job, but the sale was completed.

P.S. at least i was right about the good sound.

I, I, wasnt sure what this was all about, but I knew it had to be done away with. I'm hoping the driveline wont rub the tunnel now. Fortunately, the perch threads were fine. It took me awhile to get the needed hardware together,,,,,cant wait to drive it with useable rear suspension!

at first, I wouldnt have known, cuz I had never driven a roadster. Having a minor understanding of how suspension works, I cringed realeasing the clutch, so I kept to the roads that were smooth with no stop lights. Plenty of rebound, very little,,,, very little compression dampening. There was some slop side to side however, and I certainly dont want any of that! New wheels and tires ya know!!

Still way better than the guy who used wooden 2x4's between those brackets and the frame for a lift kit. wish I could find that photo.
