Alvin,

Exterior is 2003 Audi A4 Amulet Red (the deep red color on TT's and A4's). Interior is black.

Speedo works using the toothed drive from the earlier Mazda five speeds that use cable drive speedo's, the 6 speeds use a pulse sender instead of cable, but the switch is a straight retrofit from Mazda. Tach has to be gutted and have the internals swapped to an electronic unit with the same sweep. I am using D&D, but I have head that Palo Alto Speedo and Nisonger can do this as well.

Alvin, you deseve credit on the 14x6 Panasports and Azeni's, you helped me make that decision with the great pictures you sent.

I am debating adding a BR Performance MP62 Supercharger and going blow-thorugh on the Webers.

Current fuel delivery is a Carter electric high volume, low pressure pump mounted on the external side of the rear bulkhead. Regulation is an Italian FilterKing integrated pressure regulator. If I SC the car, this will change to a 12 PSI Carter with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator with vacuum sourcing from the intake manifold.

Wade, where did you get that intake? I might need one for my Miata. I'm having issues with the EFI system and I'm ready to shoot it.

Thanks,
Will

Will,

It is from Pierce Manifolds

www.piercemanifolds.com

They also carry dual Weber manifolds for the 1600 engine as well. Nice people to work with!

Will.

Before you convert the induction be aware that the Miata will not pass emissions.

Hi all I am 1 day old now at the site. Found it because of "ole skool"
using a Mazda Miata motor in his Datsun. To be honest I was not even aware that Datsun had a roadster. I knew of the Toyota version and even the Alpines and Tigers and the usual MG/Triumphs.

I was thinking once I finish the my 90 NA I may look into the Datsun.

Hopes its ok that I am a roadster fan but currrently not Datsun owner.

I find it interesting that thru a comment and a URL at Miata I found a connection to your site and now looking further into this style of vehicle too.

Oh Ole skool I PM'd ya on how to turn EFI to Webers.

Car is driven less then 5k a year in PA you are emissions exempt.

I don't have any problem of you being an enthusiast and not an owner. Welcome to the board.

You will probably will own more than one in due time.

Hmmmmm, need pics from the top instead of underneath, but red is definitely looking good. Must be nice to have such a huge garage space to work in, too.

Keep those updates coming. Very interesting and inspiring project.

Pete,

I will get some more of the top side. I have one in there from a front angle. Any additional specifics you would like to see?

Let me know.

I was having some minor garage envy issues with the first pictures, but the lift put me over the edge!!! I almost forgot how nice they were.
The car looks great, love the color. If it looks this good from underneath, the finished product will be a knockout.

Looking good

Wade,

Looks great!

Can't wait until you do the write up for Steve. I have always been a bit sceptical of swaps wanting to keep things original but this one with so few (and minor) mods has got me thinking...

Let us know when you have more pics.

1999 and Newer

Just curious if the 1999 and newer engines will fit into the roadster without cutting up the frame like the 1997 and older engines?

I wasn't able to find out if they changed the mounting points or dimensions of the motor when they redesigned things in 1999.

Thanks for your help in curing my curiousity?

I have to agree with Stuart that a swap that does not require extensive cutting is best. I like the Miata swap because it thinks out of the box. That having been said, I am still amazed that the Ford Zetec swap which requires no cutting - it is a bolt in - is pooh-poohed by a lot of folks. I guess they just want it to be Japanese only.

I would like to see more photos of this car when it is done. Looks like a first class job!

I think I saw on ebay a few months back a roadster with a Zetec conversion, it didn't look bad. I personally don't care about the manufacture of the drivetrain, I look for the most bang for the buck. With that said it is hard to pass up a Ka24DE swap...
