I had a feeling that someone was going to ask for a picture. I have not yet attached a photo before so let's see if I failed or succeeded.
The color of the RTV does not match exactly. Maybe I should paint the corners.

That last one was better, but it is still tough to see clearly. My guess is that it is much more noticeable in person. The corners I have had done were accomplished by some pretty agressive stretching, and then also heating with a hairdryer like heat gun just prior to fastening with the glue. There ends up being a small pleat under the lid, but it is hidden.

I just had mine recovered for $75, and they also did new felt on the inside. The job is not concours, but is certainly better than I could do and for a great price.

Vinyl spray right on the corners might work. Otherwise another piece of material to redo would be easy enough. I think I cut tabs on the corners to make a smoother appearanace, can't remember exactly. A fabric store could give you some tips also.
