Roadster Garage Gathering.
Moved my 3 best roadsters into my 2 car garage for a Family photo.
Good to get the Stable close together so they can commune.

Disconnected the tach cable from the distributor and ordered new seals from Dean. Then started working on my spare steering box as the one on my car is leaking. Ordered parts for that also.

Today I removed my oil pan from underneath the car with engine in. Replaced a new gasket and reinstalled. Need to tighten and add oil in the next couple of days. Here is a pic of aluminum pan on the g floor. And some of the tools, the wood working clamp was just what I needed to loosen the pan from the bottom of the engine after the 26 nuts and bolts were removed of course.

I modified a VW fuel sender unit to work in my car. Total cost, $13 plus shipping and a few minutes work. I tested it on the gauge on the car and it works great. Now all I have to do is get the stupid rusted screws out of the inspection plate so I can use it. You just have to point it backward instead of forward like the stock one.
Same exact bolt circle as Datsun and comes with a new gasket.

I bought this one so the same I think. I shortened the wire about an 1/8 to 1/4" too much. So it will read empty just a bit early and full just a bit early.
I had read on here about the possibility of using it so for $13 what the heck.

Thanks Curtis,
Do I understand correctly that I have to turn this VW sender 180 degrees out from the direction of the original sender?

Yes. If you point it forward it hits the baffle. While the bolt circle is the same the alignment is not. But it sure made my gauge read correctly which it never has since I got the car.
I figured out how far down the rod to bend it and then heated it and bent and tapped it around a socket. But as I mentioned I should have bent it just a bit further down.
Geez, I already knew this but really, $160 to $179 for new stock one? I'll go VW. You can't see it and it's cheap to replace.

Brought the 1600 out of cold storage and fired her up and brought her to the home. Quick tune and a 30 mile road trip to blow the spiders out.

Today, I fabbed up a intake air box for my Mikuni Quads incorporating Velocity Stacks inside the box. Red box itself is a trough used for drywall mud. Real cheap but works well.

So late to post but ... early Sunday morning .... I buffed out my windshield glass with the stuff from Gordon glass co. I had scratches (three main ones) from a long ago window wiper going bad on the road. So days ago I did what I read I should not have ...
Sanded with 340, 600, 1500, 2000 and 3000 grade wet dry, which left a noticeable haze. Then I got some cerium oxide powder and the disk from Gordan's glass and after about 30 min+ per each area; the scratches require very close inspection at the just the correct angle to be noticed. Much improved from the scratches caused by my mad dog wiper 30 years ago!
I was thinking about a new window but not anymore.
The following link discusses the material and how ... really worked well for me.
Photos of the glass available on request. The scratches could be felt with your finger, but not now.

Today I installed a new vent window seal on the passenger side, pleased with the result took me about three-four hour total. Prior pic shows the WIP with the later the finale!

Finished installing door panel, adjusted steering wheel and horn. It was honking on braking (annoying).
Took a drive up Mt lemon road (winding mountain road) until I became 7th car in line so turned around.
Still I was the noisiest motor vehicle (louder than the Harleys). Took some picks upon return home.
