FYI for anyone looking to remove the black hand brake grip. Mine was attached with very strong adhesive which required me to destroy it to get it off.bakerjf wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:57 pmC.Costine wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:37 pmJF, I rehabbed my brake handle by just scraping with my pocket knife and then smoothing up with 00 steel wool. It was surprisingly easy and now the handle looks new with no white just original looking black plastic.bakerjf wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:18 pm I’m disassembling the e-brake and would appreciate any tips on removing the black handgrip from the metal arm. Thanks in advance!
Thanks, but actually the black handle itself is in good shape. My thought was to get the handle (arm) rechromed. Even though mine is clearly chrome, I’ve since been informed that some of the later cars had a more satin, soft silver finish. I’ll have to do some more investigating I guess.

For sure I will be going to an electric rad fan. Any pros and cons to having it be variable speed?

the throttle pedal is merely 'slotted' onto the rod that comes from the engine compartment. Has a tendency to 'egg' out over years.

Ralph.
would be clever to be variable speed but not really necessary.
I used a 95degC industrial temperature switch to power the fan.
It is mounted on the radiator surface immediately opposite the hose from the thermostat housing.

Here's what I have on my '69. Rotate your view 90 degrees left for proper perspective. I have done a flat dash conversion, just saying to avoid any confusion. Pat

Lorna yes, make sure it is functioning properly prior to spending the time swapping it out

Inside the door the lock cylinder is connected to an "arm", what is used to retain it, a C clip or other type of pin?
Thx

It is usually called a hair pin. It is a wire clip.

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
One of the terminals on the fuel sending unit is a bit loose and gas is seeping out through the tiny gap this looseness has created. Is there a quick fix for this? JB Weld or something like that? Or should I just not mess around and replace the sender unit?

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
I think Devcon and others makes a gas tank repair product. It's an epoxy putty that you put on the outside of a fuel tank to plug a pinhole.
I'd try that.
