Could be an added peice to interface the door seal, and/or strengthen the lower hinge area.

Started on restoring the paint...

So far the hood is about half done. Ive spent about 3hrs on the hood. Uhg. This is going to take a while!

Before: left side untouched, right side after 3 passes with a da buffer and by hand.

Then I got wise and borrowed an orbital buffer with a wool cutting pad. 3 passes with that (ive never used one before so i am being extra careful) 3 passes with a da buffer, and 2 passes by hand. Still on step 1 cut. Next is polish then wax.

After:

I used the handy su tuning guide from the tech section to show off the shine :)

I got the rebuilt rear cylinders finished up last night. One side took less than 30 minutes and the other side I spent more than 3 hours messing with it on Sunday and still didn't get done. Had to have a new brake line made. Guy made it about a 1/2 inch short but since it was easy bend line I got it right on anyway. Just a couple less bends in it.

So go for a ride last night and it is running great. Then when I'm almost home it starts missing and sputtering. For 12+ years I never touched the carbs except to put oil in the one time. Now that I used the colortune on them to set the mixture and took the pistons off and put back on I have a problem. Go figure.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

I actually found that I was MORE confused after trying to use the colortune, than I was before I bought it. I attribute that to leaky throttle shafts and worn needles.

Did you keep the pistons in their original carb bodies? They do not swap out interchangeably. there are several videos about determining which one matches the body. Search you tube for "SU Pistons" or such.

Finally I installed a dash pad after owning a roadster for 12 years. Super happy with the result, easy 30 min install. This is one of Deans dash pads.

Well, it wasn't today but the 15th October.
Took my SP310 for an inspection to qualify for Historic Registration.
First time I have driven it since September last year!
All went well and she passed with flying colours :)
Next step was to front up to Motor Registration with the all important paperwork.
WRINKLE!
Because the car originally came from another State, Victoria, it was to be a FIRST registration in South Australia and therefore must be inspected for correct ID numbers!
Grrrrrrrrrr!
Off to another Inspection, this time a lot closer.
Turned out to be a formality, just a visual on engine and frame numbers.
Curiously, no computer records existed for a 49 y.o. car which had been off the road for 30+ years
Got chatted about the lack of brake lights.
Turned out the hydraulic pressure brake switch had died.
I was disappointed that the Niles switch had only lasted 49 years :smt013
Anyhoo, tracked down the Hella direct replacement and all was well again

So, it is all go now.
Will be fitting my Innovate MTX-L digital AF gauge today so I can get serious with the SU tuning.
It's running OK but I'm guessing it is too rich.

I must say it was a real hoot driving around, even if on a restricted permit.
Topless, 29degC and Expressway driving :smt007 :smt007 :smt007

Now to attend to all the little things that take 90% of the time

Congrats, Nissanman, all legal.
Funny, here in New Jersey, the land of rules and bureaucracy, all I needed to do to be fully legal on my 66 was the following:

Drove home 1000+ miles on Bob2's Arkansas plates with insurance in,y name and Bob's policy still active. Parked the car at home.
1. Go to MV agency #1 Transfer title and get standard plates, about $60.00 and pay sales tax. I could legally drive it that day, had 14 days to get it inspected.
2. Took photos of the car, filled out a form stating it was all stock and original, Lied where necessary. Then went to regional Motor Vehicle, got the antique plates approved and handed to me.
3. Go home, switch plates to the antique plates, turn in my week old plates I just bought.
4. Car is now exempt from safety or any other inspection, and has never been seen by any government official. Registration renews for free for life. No VIN check, never verified the photograph was actually my car, total anarchy. Could have a Hemi in a T-bucket with no front brakes and bring a photo of a stock Model T.

But, in contrast, if I want a Red Rider BB gun, I need a real gun permit.
