is the tower when you pull it out ? the distributor all the way out ? and is the oil pump the same as the advance ?

start this question here in thoughts of starting its own thread:

How do you all deal 'forum newb' inquiries that are no different than 'tire kickers'?

I've been on several forums where the old guard beats up the new guys for asking the same questions repeatedly. Some are kinder than others but all serve to discourage new participation.
One of the great things about this site is that the members are helpful without being critical. That helps keep the cars we all enjoy on the road and helps bring in new members which helps keep the forum and the cars going.
Sure, it's irritating seeing the "why won't my car start" , how much is it worth, etc. but everyone had to learn at one point and, if it's that bothersome simply pass those posts by.

The people on this site are great! Everyone is very helpful. Definitely the best overall forum experience I've had.

I don't have any other forum experience but I'm sure I ask repeated questions and somehow they get answered without an attitude .. haha thanks for that guy's btw . oh and my motor has a touch of that sewing machine sound , so I know I'm on the rite track on timing . haha it's hidden under the blown header sound but it's there . finally .. ugh . .. I'm trying to learn.this stuff .

The holes on my license plate don't line up to the holes in the body. Any ideas?

If I didn't want to extend the holes on the tag, I would make little brackets to center the tag between the holes in the body.

Wow! That looks way off. How is that possible? Could the plate be punched wrong? Though doubtful, I would check it against another plate. Maybe you have the elusive "wide body" roadster :D

Most people just pick up a commercially made bracket. They usually come with multiple holes for different cars. You can probably even find one that tells what other interests you have besides your roadster.

Thanks, I'll find a bracket. Curious though, is this expected or are the holes in my car off? I checked the plate against other plates, it's definitely standard.

I guess I should have proof read my inquiry before I posted it. I meant to ask about "part inquiries". Does anyone else get an inquiry for a part or parts, discuss pricing and shipping options and agree on deal, then have that person either add to the part list or subtract from it, then ultimately "disappear" right before payment is expected? We seem to get a lot of these.

I had to drill new holes in my Canadian plate (Ontario) to fit the holes in my 69 SRL.
