Weekend started Friday getting a nice wax job on the car, makes it easier to clean up when I get places.. (Still not convinced I like the paint on the Ferrari..lol)
Image

Home to pack the car, then off to the "Super Special" car meet at Bob's Big Boy in Downey..
Image

Had a fun dinner, a lot of cool cars, but I had to go.. Cruising thru LA..
Image

Spent the night in San Jose, then off to the show in Oakland..

Left the show for the ride home, but decided the back roads were calling, so I got off the freeway in Livermore and chased my map around.. Found Mines(?) road..

This lead to Del Puerto road, where I played follow the leader with a motorcycle..

Got to the end of Del Puerto, and found a sign.. only 299 miles to LA..

Fun weekend..

Probably 5 miles out of the 55ish total were pretty rough.. Just meant slow to 20ish MPH till the pavement smoothed out. There are a lot of loose tiny pebbles, so you don't want to follow close if your paint is important to you, but perfectly fine if you have 100-200 yards to the car in front. It made a very satisfying click tick noise in the wheel wells..

Probably added an hour to the trip, but that is an hour I will gladly give..

Went to dinner Sunday night. Found these cool walls. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. It was dark as well. Only some lighting from a couple of lights.

Very interesting - would be neat to know the backstory on those.

All kidding aside, you have a beautiful family Sid. Where's a picture of your Ford Powerstroke?

I'm jealous. Bob has some nice twisty roads around there to play on. Just keep those damn tornadoes away.

Don't let all that gray hair fool you. I am only 47. Bob may have some photos with the Ford in the background. Dirty and grimy from the drive. It was a great trip! Had an awesome time visiting Bob and his family. Some drama just before we got home that I have to deal with, but nothing earth shattering. Thanks for the kind words!

Entered my second car show in Collingswood, NJ. Out of 110+ cars, I had the only Japanese car, and one of three imports. The other two being MGs.

Looking good... and with the VG, they would see nothing but the tail...

Took the roadster out to Eagle River Valley after a 10 mile highway trip to get the beastie purring. It is a 14 mile trip through a glacial valley with a winding road that has dramatic gradients.
I was too occupied to take pictures in the fun sections but here are some pics at the mouth of the valley just about 1 mile before the fun begins.

Did have a 350z driver who was a bit confused by my 1600 as I headed back into Anchorage on the highway. He kept pulling up, looking, then dropping back, sliding behind waving and mouthing something, and then finally revved up a bit. I think he was wishing his 350z was as cool as my 1600. :D

Shedd, OR for the 6th annual Rodster BBQ. 32 Roadsters in attendance.
Put about 700 miles on our 68 1600.
Only mishap was a radiator cap leak on the way home.

nowhere in particular in the Military Ridge area of southeastern WI with stops at the Ridge (intersection of county roads Z & ZZ near Dodgeville, WI http://www.yelp.com/biz/pleasant-ridge-store-dodgeville" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . This dive in the middle of nowhere has six micro brews and Guinness on tap and GREAT bar food), Botham Vineyard for a picnic lunch and local wine and then on to the New Glarus Brewery for a fresh mirco brew. Oh yea…..we did 150+ miles on some of the better twisty roads in this part of the state:

this one is a blast. I slow down through the one farm out of respect for the farmer but the rest of it is great. I love (to ignore and laugh at) the “45 mph” sign.......

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This one is longer and the road surface sucked but at the speeds we were driving it was still a thrill....

Wow Tim, the car sounds just freakin great! I got some chills just sitting here at the kitchen table, watching the videos. I love this stuff. I get to see other roads in totally different parts of the country that it's unlikely I will ever be in, and I can do it from the seat of a Roadster!

The engine sounds happy and strong, and I didn't hear any valve train noise. I think you can safely start pushing to redline. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Greg. She is pulling strong and just wants to keep going--I got up to 5K rpm three or four times that day and she just sang.

We do have some fun roads around here. Unfortunately that day, the two best on that route we take to The Ridge had fresh gravel so we had to go slow.

As for the valve train noise, it is considerably quieter with the hood on. I still need to go back through the valves hot and cold like you suggested. I will do that this weekend.

PEACE :-)
